How about you take it off....and if/when your paint starts to get screwey then you say "**** i guess it does screw up the paint". Then if/when the paint doesn't get screwed up then you say "oh good I was worried that my paint was gonna get screwed".

What's all these complaints about noise without the hood liner? You mean you don't like the sound of the rotary at full song? Oh the blasphemy!!!
Infidels!!! hang them!

dont know if that info makes a difference, but maybe these other guys with better radiators, single turbos and less clutter in the engine compartment in general can handle the heat better then us 'stockers'

Thats what I was thinking. There seems to be so much variability with what happens when the liner is off, I wanted to figure out why. That helps though, makes sense that if everything was stock and his peeled it coulde be due to stock high heat levels. Thanks for the info.

Well there are definitely some odd replies here. I got my car used with a brilliant black finish and the hood liner missing because they took it off to repaint and never put it back on. The paint on my hood is still as shiney as the rest of the car. There's no extra noise coming from the hood...I can hear the turbos spool and I have a stock exhaust. Although I did figure out something - why would you wax the INSIDE of your hood? I know you're going to say it looks nice, but does that make any sense? I mean it's not like it's raining in there and the shine is probably reflecting more heat than the liner did in the first place. The paint on the inside of the hood is still in good condition too...just wipe it down and keep it clean. I don't have any upgraded cooling or anything and for the people who are having flaking paint or it melting...it sounds like your underhood temperatures are WAY too hot. It might've been a warning sign that your car is running too hot if your paint is messing up. Just my 2 cents...
