Hood Cable Is Broken
#6
That happened to me a few years ago. Stupid plastic ends on the cable. I had a 99 front end on my othe FD, the guy that was able to get it to open said it would have been hard to reach w/o the 99 bumper.

Is there no way of grabing the fraid end with a pair of vice grips? thats how I opened mine. I just made a lop out of metal and was able secure it to the end line so i can still pop it and just hide it after so if a cop wants me to pop my hood he couldn't by just pulling the handle he would have to feel under dash waay more.

2 ways to do this. 1st metal coat hanger, you can bend it just right and reach in between the hood and front bumper and get to the latch. 2nd take out the lamp from the drivers side of the bumper, and reach the coat hanger in sideways to the latch. They both suck and take a few tries to get it open but it can be done. I had an engine fire that melted mine a while back, the hood was open when it caught on fire trying to unflood it. I didn't know it was broke till I went in to order the parts I now needed. Quick fix until you get a new cable is to tie a peice of cable or strong wire to the latch and run it down to the front opening of the bumper, you can just grab it with your hand and open it like that. Mine is still like this with the cable running though one of the licence plate bracket holes, but I don't really care. Between the bumper and hood was the easiest way, just run some masking tape on the edge of both so you dont **** up the paint.
