Anything over 12,000 rpm on stock stationary gears and bearings MAY cause them to flex or break and the e-shaft to bend causing the rotor tips and sides to scrape the housings and side plates=ruined engine. This is only in extreme situations and for long periods of time. That's why people use reinforced stationary gears to increase the rpm safely.

Some rotary tuners in Australia are using Renesis e-shaft, rotors and stationary gears on older N/A 13B and succesfully running over 12k rpm. Suposedly everything in the Renesis is stronger and improved over any previous rotary. It's going to be very interesting when we start seeing turbocharged ones...

about 7 years ago, my old friend overreved his FC TII at willow, think went from 3rd to 4th up shift, ended up in 2nd. nothin was wrong with the car after wards til he sold it. rotaries can endure over rev than cylinder counter parts. as long as you balance it right , it beats out any cyl eng.

that 3rd to 2nd was how i blew my e36 m3 engine. ah... the sad memories

So does that mean that a stock Renesis is capable of reving this high?

yeah, some of the dragsters around my way have datsuns with bridgeported 13b's that do like 12k burnouts..

so now we'll have to swap Renesis rotaries in our FD's? The day the Mazdaspeed RX8 comes out will be a sad day for FD owners.
