With shipping and delivery and cost, the car wouldn't have $5000 to $10,000 margin left in it when it hit the shores of America. If they could sell another 500 cars for example, would $5,000,000 annual profit provide any reasonable return on investment? I imagine the investment to build a new TT 7, with current emissions, is on the order of $100,000,000. For sure it wouldn't be much cheaper than that.

I think Mazda should come out with a new 7. Why not? I'm perfectly happy with my third gen and don't care much about the possible depreciation of my car. I don't plan on selling my car, never saw it as an investment and might want to pick up another in the near future. If it's depreciated (which it's gonna do anyway) more power to me when I buy it for less! I think the RX-7 is what Mazda is all about! Just like Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Dodge Charger etc...(Legendary cars)
I might even consider buying a New 7 as a daily driver too.

They could also just change the Cosmo a bit and bring it over. Smog legal, all the goodies... People would eat them up like all those IS300's you see around all day long. Im sure I would pick one up, a nice new car as a daily driver.. that sort of thing... Ahh always good to deam right.
It also eventually would let us have access to 3 rotor parts and more legal swaps involving them.
Im in agreement, my best guess is the 7 not coming back anytime soon. Oh well I will enjoy my little collection.

no thanks...theyre not going to do so well with a new rx7. why? because theyre doing fine with the rx8 and theyre not going to create another 2 seater ROTARY sports coupe. no ones going to be interested. only around 10k rotary lovers will decide to get it. ricer kids will be like "OMG! mad tyte rx7 thats a 2 seater!"...no thanks, ill leave it as it is.

got you guys thinkin'. I do agree there should be a new version of the 2 seat Rotary sports car with the finest technology out. Hell try a quasiturbine engine with a single turbo, make it special. Show them what rotary stands for, a flagship type car. Screw making money on it, make a statement. Like they did with the new Corvette. Dedicate to making another champion sports car of its time. Same design team with new innovation and research involved. NO - RX-S. I do like RX-T Hands down its got to be an RX - whatever. I would buy one. Oh and thanx for the font comment, I like my font. Thank you.

mazda already have a gt sports car (rx-8) and a nimble light weight sports car (mx-5). I think they should just start introducing more rotary engine into other mazda car models, such as rx-3. I also would not mind a rotary, hard top rx-5(mx-5).

Last thing I want is for them to sell a new 30-40k Rx-7 and bring a bunch of mid-life crisis enduring 40 year olds who know nothing about the Rotary Engine or Rx-7s.
Honestly, just think about that aspect: Do you know what kind of members this will bring to the board?

well...they shouldve came with two models for the rx8 IMO. one model would be a 2 seater 2 door coupe (with hatch like the fd) with an optional small/tiny back seat. and other model like the one they came out with, the 4 door with the 4 seater that can seat 4 adults.

I'm sorry wha?
The RX-8 is not a sports car, its a sports sedan with potential but not enough. The RX-7 was a pure sports car 2 seats light weight no bullshit. I actually like the look of the RX-8 I admit even kinda sporty from the rear, but its still not considered nor can it be comapired to an S2000, all the BMIs and video options I've watched and articles I have read, the RX-8 can't compete with soemthing like that becasue its too heavy, its chasis isn't sturdy enough, and the suspension is too soft. Sure the renisis is a nice new engine but ehhh.....when people have problems designing a turbo kit for an engine becasue the exhuas ports limit potential you can tell something is wrong. IMHO if they were to actuall push forth with 300hp N/A 1.6L rotary that pushes 9000rpm, would have to put that 300hp to the wheel to sell and be a ton more reliable and good luck keeping a cat alive, we all know the rotary sucks with emissions.

If Mazda ever does build another rx7 they should aim very high. 50 to 60k price tag would not be unreasonable.
I can picture a 3 rotor with light boost making 400 to 500 horsepower. This car will need to compete with all the other great cars that are being built today. This is the last harrah IMO for high power cars and I hope Mazda contributes with the ultimate RX7. I think the car and its badge have earned it.

Yup... I'd actually like to see something positioned right in the middle of a Z06 and an Elise. 2500 lbs (surely Mazda can shave 250 lbs in 15 years), and about 400 hp. About the same size as the 93-95 car. Then sell a 300 hp heavier convertable version to help sales.
