help? weird noise under glove box when turning on AC or heater

im hoping someone will be able to help me diagnose this before I start ripping things apart in search of the problem.

when I click the fan up to 1-2-3-4 there is a loud humming noise coming from under the passenger glove box area. on setting 4, the noise is louder and I can even hear something that sounds like a bunch of small loose particles floating and rattling around.

The air conditioner still works and blows cold but the AC doesnt even have to be on to hear it. it makes the noises regardless when I click the switch to any position. everything under the hood appears to be functioning normally.

What broke inside under the glove box???

You could possibly have junk in the intake for the a/c. Theres an intake there for when you have the a/c to re-circulate the air inside.

thanks for the reply. that might explain the small rattling I hear but it the loud hum sounds like something else is dying underneath there.

I almost forgot to mention that the heater doesnt blow hot air anymore. The heater has been dead for a while but this humming noise and rattling are new.

any connection betwen the two?

still looking for help.

thanks

humming noise is your fan which is located under glove box. I know mine (for some Reason) got dirty and there were small leaves inside and were rubing on it which made it make scratching noise. It's really easy to take off and clean. if your heater doesn't work it could be your Heater core plugged up.
