Help New Car
I just got my 1st RX7, its a 95TT and im really happy about it. But i dont know what to do with it. Someone told me to buy a Power FC and a COmmander and tune out the car and turbos. Does anyone know what the turbos produce stock?? And how much boost could i put on the motor with stock internals??

Hey new guy, use the search and all your dreams will come true. You should, in my opinion, slow it down a little bit and start with some boltons, then think about moving up in the tuner world.

read the stickies religiously. nobody here can tell you what to do with your car, especially since you didn't tell us your goals for the car, what you want out it, etc...
find out what you want from the car (reliability, power, etc...), read about it, and ask ( answerable
) questions from there.

Yep their right it's a tough forum when you don't know where to go. I am very new as well, but with the stickies and other search options, including the archives you can find anything you want. Not to mention you can pretty much find a rock solid blueprint for your goals if really want too.

As the above responses imply, there are several interactive systems on the FD (3rd-gen RX7) which need to be managed in a coordinated manner, or you can get into all sorts of problems. For instance, just ONE ping from running too lean or low-octane fuel (and it's easy to do that) can blow an apex seal and require a rebuild, plus possibly replacement of damaged turbos.
Study the situation carefully, and proceed with caution.
On the other hand, there are quite a few well-tuned FD's out there running reliably with big HP.
The key is "well-tuned."

Well what i want is a car that i can tune it to like 400hp on stock internals and be a daily driver.. Im gonna get a motor like a 13B-TT and upgrade it to like 800hp for a race motor.. BUt i need a car to drive, but goin from my hatch to an RX7 is great but today when i left my school i tried to race my friends type-s and he pulled my bad. So i was kinda dissappointed so i wanna get a fast car that i can "abuse" and it wont break down on me...

first off dont lean out the car, rotaries do not like to be leaned out at all. Second of all there is no way a type s should beat your car. Third 800hp in a rotary is unrealistic. Do the v8 swap if you want 800hp. Either that or buy a 3 or a 4 rotor. just my 02.

common guys~~~ lets help this guy out.....!!~~~
For stock applications the basic full boost is 10 pounds.....
The power FC and commander is basically an independant fuel commputer to enrich fuels at desired levels.... YOu don't need it as of right now if you are totally stock....
basically I would go for the power FC after 3 major mods.... Intake, Downpipe, exhaust....
You have to know that rotory's run much much hotter than conventional piston engines so detonation and knocking can easily occur...

1st TT Rex, my friends car runs12.1 and i found it out the hard way. The V8 swap is the easy way out, i know you can get real good power but theres something easy to say..... I DONT LIKE V8's.... It sounds like you people dont like to help someone out that needs help cause all i got so far is get another car, so i dont think you guys like rx7's or you trust in them... AS for 800hp thats along ways away i say 5-7years. But when i said abuse. trust me i kno about breaking down, i've done it alot before i sold my hatch. I ment abuse as in i can drive to work and on the weekend race it.

xonazon,
It's not that people don't want to help, it's just that every week or so, someone posts saying "I want to make 500RWHP," and most of them (you seem to be an exception) have absolutely no idea how difficult and expensive that can be. Therefore, the conditioned response is "Don't do it, get a V8."
If you are serious, and you appear to be, there will be lots of help available on this forum.
Good luck!

You realize that a 500hp fd will probably do low 11's to high 10's in a quarter. If drag racing is your goal then you have to build a car for that specifically. To get 400hp (I'm guessing at the flywheel) you will need all of the bolt ons, street ported motor and 14psi of boost.
These cars are light. A 500hp fd will keep up with a 800hp supra. Just keep that in mind when you are setting your horsepower goals. An 800hp fd will definitely not me streetable.
Good luck and welcome to the "money pit" forum.

TT Rex7 the smog and everything isn't a problem, i live in FLA no emissions testings but the whole 800hp thing isn't something just like i wanna drive it to work everyday, its something im going to do when i know i can dump 50K into a car and put it ina magazine or something. The whole type-s thing was my fault that i found out, i raced my friend lastnight down I-95 and whooped his @$$ in a really big way. Maybe before i just didnt know how that car drives. But as for building horsepower in the car now im goin to a tuner shop monday night and getting new Intake, Exhaust, an APEXI Boost Controller, and my computer tuned out... So I'll write you guys monday night and tell you how it went...

What tunner shop?
Do they deal with RX7's alot, if not you might whant to becarefull on How much tunning they do.
I know there are a couple of real good shops in florida, I just don't know the area very well to recomend one close to you. ( pettit racing, N tech, etc. )
RX7's dont seem to take well to dyno's So I would be on the conservative side when you do your tunning, if this is the way you going to do it.
Just my $.02
