Help Car Wont go into gear!!!!!
Ok being an idiot with my friends and their 240's i tried drifting the rx7 *btw i really suck* so i feathered the clutch and now the car won't go into gear as if the clutch isn't disengaging. I didn't hear any noises pops cracks or anything when it happened. it happened immediatly after i was being stupid. Its an ACT 6 puck. Stock Flywheel. As far as i know i wasn't leaking any fluids. Before tonight. The clutch engagment was squeaking...like a softer material on metal rubbing. No slippage. Any ideas. Thanks.....i'm so mad at myself i just bought the car and already F'd it up. Please be nice to me i know i'm dumb ;-)

Thanks Scotty i'm gonna go ahead and put it up on my lift and see if thats the problem....I read Ray at Malloy Mazda does anyone have any contact information for him? And if it is my problem will replacing the stock fork with a stock one is that my only option? Or are there aftermarket reinforced forks? I gotta order a PFC from Gotham Racing tomorrow so i'll ask steve what he thinks.

The information in the archives and floating around on this list has all the answers anyone could need. Some of the guys are great as they still answer the questoins anyway, but it all here. I usually run across an answer to my questions without ever having to ask it.

Malloy Mazda , Ray Crowe is the parts manager, gives great prices to RX-7 owners, quick shipping:
(888) 533-3400 , (703) 490-8170 , fax: (703) 490-3864 , hmkparts@aol.com
Ray's info is in the FAQ. I assume the info is still good.

Replace the pressure plate
I had the same issue on my car. Had a friend adjust the clutch pedel so I could get home on it but it was only a temporary fix until the pressure plate took a crap.
My recomendation would be just replace or upgrade the entire clutch assembly (pressure plate, fly wheel, disk) don't really need to worry about much else. But the pressure plate for sure.

I have a similar problem to this but a little different. This seems to happen in time. My clutch fluid seems to be low and the cluth has no give. I fill up the fluid and pump the thing like crazy and I get some give back to the pedal. Anywayz...that lasted for another 2 months and then then i'm driving and then I push the clutch down and it doesn't engage....I cant get the thing in gear..its like I push the clutch pedal down but the clutch doesn't want to engage. I can fix this by putting more fluid in it and pumping it....but it will just come back. Anyone have this happen to them? Anyone know how to fix this...that would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Sorry for highjacking the thread but I figured it was very close to the same subject. THANKS

I hope you also did the pilot bearing ans seal as the pilot bearing can cause the same type problem and be a bear to seperated the tranny from the engine if it doesn't disentigrate.

Very weird indeed, if you have to add fluid.............it's got to be going some where.

I'm hijacking my thread back lol.....but UPDATE:**
Pulled the transmission and the clutch fork is fine. haven't pulled off the clutch yet. What should i look for as far as what might be causing this. I'll check the pilot bearing.

I have a feeling your going to find the input shaft to the transmission locked together with the E-shaft by way of a locked up pilot bearing, if the throw out bearing is pulling and releasing the pressure plate that's about all that can cause the shaft's to lock together, did you have someone push in the clutch and verify the pressure plate indeed pulls away from the clutch disc. ???

There's no such thing as clutch hydrolic fluid (that I'm aware of) have you noticed any issues with your brakes as a caliper leaking would cause the resivoir to go down as well, but since you said your only having problems with the clutch running out of fluid I suspect you'll find your leak in that system/not your brakes.

UPDATE for an old thread.....the clutch was fused to the Pressure Plate and wouldn't dissengage until it kinda throttle hopped and broke it loose and the pads from the 6 puck stuck to the PP and gave it some weird vibrations during engagement. Just posting this for people Using the search function on a similar problem.
