Heater in a RX7

For a car that is supposed to run so hot and be prone to overheating, my car has very minimal heat as far as what blows out of the vents. Is this common on FD's? I'm used to my Toyota or Honda heat that blasts you out of the car after a couple of minutes. I think I could probably leave the heat on in the summer and not tell the difference between that and the outside air. Any thoughts?

Yeah mine is not exactly high power by any means. I usually notice it more when it is really cold outside, otherwise it is not too bad. One thing that I have noticed that gives mine a bit more heat is to put it on recirculate, this makes a small difference but not huge.

By design the car doesn't blow really hot air out the dash vents. Put your selector on floor/defrost or floor only. My car will cook me when it's 20 degrees outside with the heat on full blast. The dash vents never blow very hot, so don't use them when it gets really cold.

Makes Sense...

What you all are saying seems relevant. As stated, the dash vents don't seem very hot at all, but I can feel some warmth coming from the floor units. Thanks for the responses.

YEAH I found that out also.... use the floor vents --- my top dash vents ----sux ---- blows cold air out ---- when turned all the way up

What i've noticed is that if either use the top ones or the bottom, none of this both stuff because it has proven time and again that it doesn't work. But my upper ones blow out hot air as long as the *** is to the far left.

Any mods for this?

Yeah, mine is real weak too. I run with windows down a lot and really notice the lack of a strong heater fan when its cool outside.

Has anyone done a mod for this? Is it possible to fit an aftermarket fan or take one off a different car? Did a search, found nada.

And where is this weak-*** fan located anyways? .... maybe this can be turbocharged too..........

Thanks,

M

The Heater controls are set up so that you only get warm air out of the dash vents when the control is set in the red area and even then it is mixed with the incoming fresh air unles the recic . button is pushed. The FLOOR vent will blow warm air at any setting above full cold unless the AC is on and even then they will still give warmer air than the dash vents with the control set in the red area. At the middle settings it will give you AC out the dash & warm air on your toes for those Sunny Cold days when the sun through the window is frying your Face & Torso but your toes are still freezing on the cold floor

Looks like some people didn't bother reading their owner's manual. Read it, it's for your own good. Floor and defrosters for hot air. Face vents and that little one under the steering wheel for A/C.

I understand the floor vernts for heating, I just want to know :

is it possible to put some more huevos into the fan?

The force of the air coming out of any of the vents is by far the weakest of any car I've owned. Just want to be able to open the windows, even on cold nights.
