Headunit and Din Pocket

I currently have an aftermarket headunit and the R1 din pocket underneath it and I want to replace them with a new headunit. Is there a way to remove them without removing the radio/ac console?

Yes. Insert the radio release keys on either side of the radio and pull it out. The pocket under the radio snaps in and out. The pocket is harder to get out than the radio in my opinion but you can get it out after the radio is removed.

You can go to most auto parts store and get the tool..looks like two horse-shoe shaped metal pins. Those you insert into the two holes on each side of the Stock DIN pocket that are visible with the door open. Pry outward slightly while pulling on the DIN pocket and it should pop right out.
How you get the aftermarket head-unit out depends on the head-unit, but most aren't hard. Some use the same tools as the stock DIN.

Or you can just get crafty with a few paper clips if you're really cheap and dont want to drive to the store and buy the tool like me.

I used a coat hanger to get it out. Thanks for the replies.
