There is more than one check valve in that area. I think there are 3?? You should figure out what it attaches to, and post again.

I would guess that it is OK to drive the car if it is running right. I would not drive it hard.

The check valve closest to the crossover pipe is the pressure chamber check valve. The other is the vacuum chamber check valve. A cracked pressure chamber check valve will hinder primary boost production. A cracked vacuum chamber check valve will affect how the secondary turbo comes online. I'd replace them ASAP, unless you want to be frustrated with boost control problems...

Tom Jelly,

Do you have the product number of a circle-seal check valve that would be a plug-and-play unit? The catalogs are not very detailed.

Just order the OEM ones. They lasted almost 10 years, they'll make it another 10 or so (if the rest of the car lasts that long)...

Call Ray at Malloy. He knows the check valves, and will get you the right ones.

Also, be aware there is a "vacuum hose replacement kit" available from mazda. The kit runs in the $175 range, but includes ALL the check valves and many hoses, most of which you won't use. As compared to the individual cost of sinle check valves at a a time, it's a MUCH better way to go, IMO!

It doesn't do any damage, you just won't be getting the perfect 10-8-10 boost pattern. Despite different part numbers and such, I'm pretty sure all the check valves are the same. They all just allow air to flow one way, and not the other.

That being said, I agree with Mahjik, get the OEM ones, they're durable enough, especially if you have cooling mods, then they'll last even longer.

As spurvo pointed out, call Malloy Mazda:

Malloy Mazda
1-888-533-3400
Talk to Ray Crowe

If Ray isn't around, the other guys seem to be equally qualified or just leave Ray a voice mail. He will get back to you.

As far as actually replacing them? Just make sure you check the vacuum diagram and have the check valve arrows going in the right direction when installing them. That's it!

You may as well check all the other check valves that are in reach while you are there. Just make sure you can only blow through ONE direction.

The quote below comes form this link: http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/faqs.htm

What are the part numbers for those one-way / check-valves?

The all White one: N3A1-13-1995 (note: this is a revised p/n and is a very expensive part - $40)

The Black/Green one: N390-13-995A

The Green/White one: HE41-13-995

The Aluminum one: NF01-13-890

Note that Mazda has been consolidating part numbers lately and has started using N390-13-995A for the Black/Green and White/Green.

$30 dollars! I just bought a used one for $1...plus the shipping, which turned out to be more than the actual check valve. $30 is beyond ridiculous though...

I recently bought the Black/Green one from Malloy for $19 with no shipping or tax charges. If you want to buy new, Malloy is the best!
