Question Greddy Profec b 1 or 2?

hey i currently have a profec b spec 2 and its a pain in the *** to use and i find the tuners find it a little complicated....ive always had the old school profec 1 and never had any problems with it with the 3 turn ***** set it and done..

the question i have is for the 3rd gen would it be better to have the profec 1 or the 2....i have a basic single turbo set up built engine and it makes 480 around 18 psi

tuners dont really need to tune a boost controller
you set it properly and you should never be touching it again
I have a profec B II as well, but I have not messed with it in a while

you need to ask yourself, if a guy can't figure out a boost controller do you really want him messing with you AF/R's? if you are already set to 18lbs exactly why are you touching this again, are you trying to retune your tuned car?

anyway, about your question, if you have sequential twins you want the profecB II for sure.
since you are single you can use any fuzzylogic controller with the '****' and you should be ok

The original Profec B is similar to the current Profec S.

I guess there wasn't much out there.

But honestly, how hard can it be. As potatochipbit said, if a tuner can't set the markets most popular EBC's, why is he tuning your car? I would buy the setup that you want with the features you want for your car and let the tuner do the job you are paying him for.

When it comes to EBC's there are TONS of options. If you are dead set on a Greddy then just look for feedback or threads on each. Arghx made a great thread on EBC comparison.

^Get that one. IMO the spec 2 is a PITA to deal with.

not even remotely true, sometimes more than half of my time is spent dicking around with boost controllers. you have to set the boost properly to be sure the tune is accurate...

but i find the b-spec 1 is too crude, the b spec 2 works better for fine tuning the boost curves but it can be a little tricky if you don't read the instructions first to get the basics down on the controller.

pretty sure i gave a how to for the B spec 2 a while back but don't ask me to now, i often forget how each controller works when not dealing with a particular model for several months at a time. in general they are all very similar though, but i REALLY prefer RPM adjustable boost controllers like the AVCR which can cure boost drop off issues for a totally streamlined boost curve. self learning boost controllers with a target boost level can be quite bothersome with surging and overboost patterns.

yeah well i blew my engine and uh yeah had to probably doing with the way it was set up i have the spec 2 like i said but i find it complex and i find that a few other people dont know how to mess with it ....im trying to get this right this time ive blown 2 motors over the past 8 months and belive its the tuning and the boost conroller.....i want something simple so when i go to retune im good to go and the tuner can handle everything right the 3rd time lmao

AVCR, turbosmart controllers, and Greddy E-01 have an rpm-based adjustment capability.

The trade off is between simplicity and adjustability. Original Profec B and Profec S are about the simplest you can get and still be electronic.

i have the Profec E-01, if you have a little extra cash to spare, i'd go with that one
i love it, really easy to manage with a big screen, plus you can add in extra sensor have it keep track of all your pressures and temps
and it data logs on top of that
