Greddy FMIC and Koyo radiator fitment problem
Hi guys,
I've been trying to finish my Greddy 2row front mount install, I've been having problem with the koyo fitment from day one. First the upper radiator bracket didn't fit, ok fine, so I bent the stock bracket and it worked.
However, now i'm having a prblem with the intercooler piping fitment. Because Koyo is so thick the intercooler piping can't sit flush against each other, this makes it impossible to install the coupler. I've tried a long stright coupler, that doesn't work. The angle is not great enough to use a 45deg bent coupler either. Has anyone with koyo/greddy fmic had this same problem? How did you get around it?

Take the rad out, out off the inlet pipe elbow, shorten the end that attaches to the rad, and reweld it. That might give you the room you need.
Can't be sure by looking at the pics.
You have to open your mind to new posibilites to be a fabricator.

yep the radiator inlet is too long, but also the radiator it self is too wide, the piping is touching the side of the radiator.
I looked into getting new pipe febed, but my friend told me welding aluminum requires specialty machines which few shops have?
here is a pic of greddy 2row front mount install with fluidyne radiator, you can see the radiator is shorter in width.

I've got the Greddy FMIC with Koyo radiator and I don't have any fitment issues with the radiator, and I've still got the A/C there too. First off, are you 100% sure that pipe is not flipped around? You shouldn't need to get any new pipes made or modify the ones you have. I will say though, the pipes that come in the kit fit like crap, I really had to work with them all to get them to line up well. But they do work with the Koyo. Try moving the pipe that is attached to the intercooler (turbo side) counter clockwise and pull it and the coupler on the intercooler higher up. I realized you can change the way the pipes fit a lot by simply shifting/rotating the pipes that attach to the IC. Also, if you just moved the perches for the radiator back a little bit it will set it at a greater angle and give you some more room between the radiator neckand IC pipe. Seriously the Greddy instructions are worthless, I had to bend or modify about every bracket in the whole kit. Drill the holes for the stuff were YOU measure it fits, not what the Greddy instructions tell you.

Do you have any picture of your setup? I've pretty much followed the greddy english instructions, and their setup will work if the radiator is stock sized. Unforunately koyo is not the case.

My coupler at that bend touches up against the radiator hose. I was able to make it work though, just be persistant about it. It will fit. Here's how mine turned out.
The other thing to make note of is that the IC pipe on the right (near the A/C) that passes over the radiator will probably rub on the radiator. I put some double sided tape on the back side of that pipe because it was starting to wear thin.

It seems like you guys mounted the radiator more towards the driver side, however if I move my radiator to the driverside there won't be enough room for the mini battery.

What I suggest doing, is what I had to do as well. Is you need to twist and rotate the first pipe coming off the FMIC from the bottom of it. Dont tighten it down and then try to connect the 1st > 2nd with it tightened. You need to be able to rotate it around and have some leeway when you try to put the coupler on. I had the same situation as you, but I'm using a fluidyne.
Honestly it just takes some fiddling

Ok you guys are right, the pipie from ic was flipped, I can connect the 2 pipes now. However another problem is the radiator water tube is too long, I dont' have enough room for the coupler+waterhose.
