Question Greddy duel intake system vs. HKS J-spec intake??

I am torn between these two intake systems, they both have foam filter elements, and I have been told that they can deteriorate and do bad things to the engine. Can anyone else elaborate on this? Besides that, which one is a better product?

there was this one test online that said HKS had the worst filters. I dont really buy into it, and dont really care that the alot of the ppl on the forum blindly believe it.

I bought the HKS anyway. Make sure to replace them regularly (it does add up $wise), they are not washable or reusable, they will get old, dry and brittle and lose whatever filtering ability they have.

Oh and if you are talking about the HKS RS intake, those polished pipes are yummy Qball has one too, they look great.

You don't want that sponge material sucked into your turbos...

Yeah i know i don't want that stuff to get sucked in, but i like the piping that it comes with, so maybe i can just stick different filters on or something.

I change my filters about once or twice (maybe, depends on the condition of the filters) a year. Never had any problems with the filter element falling apart and heading into the turbos.

Just like anything, it requires a little maintanence.

IMO, the Blitz intake is the best looking open air intake you can get. I tried to get it, but it was on backorder when I was purchasing (as well as the Apexi). However I'm satisfied with the HKS unit. I never regret purchasing it.

As far as power gains with the various intakes, there's never really been a documented test done on an FD but they are all pretty much the same.

like I said if u take care of them you really have nothing to worry about. If u leave the filter elements in for years then eventually u'll suck in the brittle foam.... but that's ur fault, not the filter's right?

Scrub, if you have a good exhaust shop that you know of they can fab you the pipes, then just buy whatever filters you like (K&N, blitz or HKS metals, or bla bla whatever else you like).

If the polished pipes are what is attracting you to the intake, then just take a look at this.

I have the Blitz intake and I love it. The filters are absolutely top notch and they come with these two mounting bracket thingys that fit right onto the end of the stock intake piping. The only regret I have with buying this intake is I can't really fit a bigger SMIC on then my Blitz SMIC (granted fits perfectly with that IC). I don't want to go FMIC and want an M2 medium or large IC next for my next major mod. after an aftermarket rad. So I am going to have to custom fab. something because I don't want to waste the 355 it cost for the intake.

Question Which Dual Intakes work with Greddy FMIC

I'm told the Greddy Airinx is the only air intake system that fits with the Greddy 2-row FMIC piping (for twin turbo system)?

Like everyone else, I like the Greddy Airinx hard piping kit, but not thrilled about the sponge filter material.

Someone posted an idea of removing the sponge material and using K&N filters. Anyone know what size K&N filter to use?

For right now, I've settled on the Apex Dual Intake system that's modified by Jason Baughman (Rx7 Store.Net) to be used with the Greddy FMIC (twin turbo) kits.

Sleep R1,

I dont own the GReddy intake system, you can just measure the outside diameter of the pipe, and buy the K&N filter size accordingly. Go to K&N's website and theyll list all their intakes w/measurements.

I don't know what to do....i guess ill have to do some more reading. The blitz and the greddy seem to be the nicest IMO with the exception of the foam stuff.

I have Blitz one -- really like it. Especially, the idea of lift-time use---no filter changing. Look great. But, I got one that made for Blitz FMIC, so the filters are shorter than normal.

Also, my mach told me that he's seen option2 mag testing intakes from many manufactures. He claimed that Blitz came the first in performance wise.

did you like the greddy intake? I waunder how hard it would be to polish the piping for the blitz intake.

Question Greddy Airinx with Apex Funnel Filters

I think that "cage" is made of shiny chrome-plated plastic? Kind of cheezy IMO. I guess if the cage really IS metal then, that's ok

What's wrong with attaching Apex funnel filters on the Greddy Airinx piping? Anyone know if the Apex filters will fit on the Greddy Airninx piping?

Question Pictures of Greddy Airinx Intake

Does anyone have pictures of the Greddy Airinx intake mounted in his/her car? Preferably with a Greddy FMIC Twin Turbo and Greddy Elbow piping kit?
