good FD3 mechanic close to central MA?

i'm having trouble. I have a 93 fd3 with 56k miles and a racing beat catback. It runs fine at wot but at partial throttle it studders and hesitates. It's hard to maintain a constant speed. Is there a good mechanic near northern central MA? Oh, and it's an automatic (yeah, i'm dissapointed too). Can anyone help me?

Hey Scorcher,
Good mechanics are hard to find for FD's(especially in Ma.). I have a few guys that can do stuff after you've diagnosed it, but to diagnose, I drive to KD Rotary in PA. It takes me 5 1/2 hour typically. If I were you I would try Eurotec in Framingham. They are expensive, but they have good mechanics there. You will not see a bullshit car in the garage. They do only high end cars (Porsche, RX7, modified Audi's Etc.) I don't have the number anymore though. Sorry.

There is a place here in Salem called BPR. He does great work, he owns an FD himself and he works on my FD all the time. He also did all the work on my 2 FC's when i had em. If you want me to get you the # PM me.

Although it's a hike, I'd go with KD also. Shoot dave an email (kdrotary@enter.net)--he will often diagnose problems free of charge.

And there is no such thing as an FD3---the correct internal designation is FD3S

do you have any error codes?

it could be the MAP sensor.

my 626 (the other car) had the same symptoms (except, it was difficult to keep a constant speed even at wot). it would feel like fuel cut from time to time. anyways, the fix was the MAF sensor (similar to MAP). someone correct me if i am wrong: but an easy way to check would be to disconnect the MAP sensor. At this point, the ecu will override MAPs functionality. drive the car around that way, and if the hesitation stops than MAP is the problem and get it replaced. you car might die out coming to a complete stop though with the MAP disconnected, so be careful.

What color is your car? I was ther last month and saw 3 FD's along w/ Barry's. There was a white, montego blue w/ MazdaSpeed front bumper, VR w/ single turbo.

i had my map replaced in january due to mixture problems. I didn't notice the problem when the old map was still functional. That sounds like it might be it then. Maybe i'll take it to BPR and see what he thinks. THanks for the help

i have a black r1 , i also have an 88 SE down there.. the black one with the turbo scoop and the ugly 4 spoke rims. hehe im planning on selling it so im having barry make sure everything works good before i do
