I am the proud owner of a high milage FD. No I didn't buy it with high miles I put them on. I just can't help not driving the thing lol.

Here is my take

given that this is a high milage FD 157K. I would not be surprised if there's a 50k rebuilt engine on it. But compresion test is your friend.

The things that you will most likely spend money in the near future are:


suspension stuff- bushings, shock absorbers... which can get pricey BTW

Old parts- tach may go out soon, Fuel pulsation dampener, starter, clutch.

Age on engine bay plastic stuff- including the stock rad (if it's still on there) and all cooling, solenoids and turbos hoses

Plastic interior/exterior stuff- expect window switch to break soon, glove box handle, extrior door hadle (you'll love that one lol), passenger's side interior door grip. and oh yes both headlight covers (they are probably both cracked by now, check the area where they are screwed on)

Actually, I didn't realize it had 150k on it That is a big gamble if you don't make sure it has stellar compression first.

However, the fact remains that you do hate rotaries. Don't make me quote your other posts for evidence. The best part is that you still drive one.

Holy crap this is alot of responses. Thanks for the advice, especially Mahjik. I plan on taking the car down to pineapple racing in OR and having the engine replaced. I picked up the car yesterday and it seems the middle arm rest piece is loose, some plastics underneath are broken, as well as on the driver door the small compartment door is broken. The side view mirror adjusting controller is loose, the hot/cold *** is loose. The rest of the interior is basically mint, i don't see any tears of any sort, no loose stitching, seats are awesome condition. The car pulls hard I can hear the turbo spooling, the "Add coolant" light comes on every now and then, I didn't even drive the car hard yet, also the RPM Tach isn't working. I dont really mind though i'm having it transported to pineapple, I hear they're awesome and have good deals for good motor builds with warranty. I'm not sure as to what all Pineapple will provide, but after motor/HP modifications, I'll be redoing alot of the suspension, and replacing the Konig rims ( i'm not a fan of konig at all ). After that i'll bring it back up to seattle for some other modifications like seats, bars, switch out alarms yadda yadda, I have a 2nd car to drive now thanks to my gf's dad's multiple extra cars. This FD will be my project to continue since my S14 was stolen.

I posted on here just to see what kind of feedback or suggestions would be made. Any additional feedback is appreciated. It's nice to be a part of the rotary community, if anyone has any feedback on a good rotary specialist within Washington please let me know!

Good to hear! At the price you paid, and the mileage on that car, its easy to imagine it ending up in the hands of someone that would not treat it well. Sounds like it will be well taken care of though. Good luck with the project, and keep us up to date!
