Glovebox broken again...

Ok, my glovebox is broken again. It doesn't close anymore, the handle works fine though. When I go to close the glovebox it just falls. I did some searches and saw that howardcoleman had some sort of fix years ago bt I dont understand the instructions. I separated the glovebox like he said and i see the latch area is loose, but I don't see any screws that would have to be tightened like he states. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?? Same thing happened less than a year ago to another glovebox so now I have two gloveboxes just sitting around.

I am not sure wheter you had the same problem i had or a different one; what happened to mine is basically that some screws that hold the mechanism to open/close went loose; this is causing the metal "buckle" in the box (the thing that should hold the U-shaped metal part) to be loose (you can easily check by pushing it, if it's moving it's not good). When this happen when you try to close the box the U-ring just pushes the buckle back and doesnt click-in like it should.

If this is your problem, unfortunately there is no apparent easy fix; what i had to do is to cut a rectangular portion of the interior plastics of the box to have remove the whole device, fix it tightening the screws (mine completely came off) and then rebuild the thing (i put in some small brackets and screws to refix the cut part).

Hope this helps you man, these glooveboxes are a real pain!

It may be a difference between 93 and 94 glove boxes, it is my understanding that they are different. I had to replace my 93 glove box as there was no way to separate the outer shell and inner lining. Wish I could be of more help, but I couldn't find any solution other than getting a working used one.

yeah mine is 93 as well...or you cut it like i did or you throw it away as there is no other possiblity to access the inner parts.

I guess ill try cutting mine since I dont feel like spending $200+ for a glovebox just for it to break again in a few months.

I actually fixed one of my gloveboxes yesterday so I don't need the pic anymore. I couldn't fix the other one for some reason, I tightened the screws but it still won't close. Thanks a lot though for the offer to help, its more than anyone else was willing to do and i appreciate it for real.
