I'm pretty certain that only metal sunroofs were available on the 3rd gen. If you have seen a glass one it was probably installed by a shop. (don't see why it wouldn't be possible) I personally have never seen a glass sunroof on an RX-7 and i've seen a lot of RX-7's.

The glass (moonroof) sunroof was available in '94 only as part of the Touring Package.
'93 Tourings and the Popular Equipment Packages in '94 and '95 had steel sunroofs. A few owners got the moonroofs from wrecked FD's and installed them to replace their metal sunroofs.

No, you're right. The "glass" was heavily tinted, so it would look very dark.
I see you're in Norway. My comments in my post above only apply to U.S. models. European models had a different option package, which from what I've seen, combined elements of our R and Touring models.

Damn I came across a glass toped 3rd gen out here at the import junk yards in Irwindale, CA about a month ago but didn' thave the cash left to buy it after a full day of parts buying.
Talk about the right price at the wrong time.
