Getting car tuned by Steve Kan
My mods are listed in my sig. I was just wondering what things I should ask of Steve. Does anyne have any particular settings that worked good for them. Any cool tricks. I am sure he will know what to do but I just wanted to get people's advice.
Thanks

Make sure that you have a full tank of whatever gas you plan on running on the street (hopefully 93, hehe) and new/clean plugs installed. Also, if you have a power fc don't forget to ask him to set it so the fans come on at a lower temp.

Yea, I have my fans set already. It can get kind of hot here in Tucson. My plugs only have like 2000 miles but I may change them out anyway. Start nice and fresh. I never thought I would ever get my car tuned properly, I can't wait

You're gonna love it! Steve Kan is awesome, he tuned 5 Northeast guys in September, and I've never been happier with the car since.
I'd say just have him tune it for whatever PSI he feels is safe. He tuned mine for 12 and my injectors were at 94% at redline. You have more airflow due to the IC, mp and cat-back, so your injectors might well be maxed out at 12 psi. Either way you've gotta be making some really good power to be trapping 113 already, and it's only gonna get better after Steve is done. Post the dynoe sheet when you're done, I wanna see how it goes.

You're in good hands, I had a great experience with Steve. The car feels terrific under all conditions (part throttle, ect).
1. Bring an extra set of plugs, even if you start with a clean set. You can always return them if you don't end up using them. I think GT2 will back me up on this one
2. Full tank of gas
3. change the fuel filter if you haven't done it in awhile.
4. Let Steve know how aggressive you want to be with the tuning. I had him set mine up on the rich end of the spectrum because I didn't want to worry about it and don't mind giving up a little hp for piece of mind. A couple of my friends were more aggressive. Regardless, he won't do anything foolish so don't worry.

Pour a couple (or a few) bottles of the el cheapo octane booster in an almost empty tank, then go fill up with 93 octane. Just to give yourself a couple extra measures of safety. Especially if you're running higher than stock boost.

Putting in some octane booster gives you a little bit of added safety. As a "just in case" type thing. That's how Steve likes the car to be when he goes to tune.
And toulene does give you more of an octane boost, but if you're running higher boost levels and don't have an upgraded ignition system to go along with it, you'll get more ignition breakup.
It burns hotter than regular gas does. Previously, I was only getting ignition breakup at 17 psi or higher. But when I mixed in the toulene I started breaking up at 14-15 psi. It ran smoother up until then, but then like crap at high boost.

With a wideband I don't think you have to worry. He will back out before the situation becomes critical.

I'm leaving bright and early tomorrow morning to get it done. I look forward to finding out how much HP my car puts down after the tune. My friend's FD put 356 down with the same mods as me, his only differences were an xs eng. re-tuned stock ecu and a front mount. I will post dyno numbers when I get back

Steve and Ihor showed up yesterday and already have one car finished. More to come today.
Steve seems like a really great guy, and yes, he does know how to tune Haltech. Lots to do today so I'll pass along some results later!
