gauge pods
Hey...I'm looking into gettin a set of the defi-link gauges. They are all 60mm that i've seen...I know i've seen plenty intalled in rx-7s so i'm just wondering what gauge pods people use. I'm planning on mounting 2 on the A-pillar. So if anyone can point me in the right direction or post some pictures thanks.

The Defi D-link are available in 52mm. I personally think 60mm gauges are too big. Forget the a-pillar gauges.....go with Frank's tripod - http://hometown.aol.com/flyrx7/Rx7-Gauge-Pod.html

Furhermore, the Link series have a record and playback feature which I found very helpful when testing various things. It allows you to record and playback all your gauges at once. It can record up to 3 minutes of data. This was very handy when I was testing out different radiators in my car because it allowed me to replay the gauges over and over again and take notes so that I could compare one radiator against the other. The same thing could be used to troubleshoot the stupidly complicated twin turbo system on the RX-7.
Lastly, if you have the link series and have both the fuel pressure and boost pressure, it has the capability of displaying the difference in pressure between the two. This means that it shows you fuel pump pressure as a function of boost. This is good for diagnosing fuel pressure conditions.

I have the tripod and love it. It looks stock. Mazda should have done it. Yes the dash speaker comes out but as old as I am I don't miss the frequency loss. In fact my stock bose unit and antenna does not function properly. Since I drive maybe 1500 miles/year it is not high on my priority list.

I was waiting for almost 3,4ish months to get the pod from FlyRx7, so not sure if anyone else has had any luck with him. I just said screw it and got a DIN panel for underneath the radio however I don't think you can fit 60mms in there since the 52's barely fit.
