Alright, So my gas door stopper/opener is broken(opener may work, cannot tell). From the looks of it there is a spring mechanism that just bolts on. As for what this is called or how I would even begin to search for I am lost. If anyone can understand this, can you help point me in the right direction? It is a bolt on item to open/keep closed the gas door. Thank-you

 

I hear tell of a guy who works at a place called Mallory's or wait - Malloy Mazda. Now I believe his name is Ray....Ray Crowe. Most folks just say, Ray Who or Who's this Ray ?? Somewhere's down South there he lives. Now there is talk of this guy on this forum somewhat, and they say he can deliver Mazda Rx7 goods at a fair price. There is a spring loaded nipple that extends to keep the lid shut. It is located in the nut of the mechanism you are describing. Try wiggling your gas door opener a few times to see if it pops back out. Apply a little grease to it if it keeps hanging up when you pop the lid. If you cant get the nipple to pop out or the spring is shot order one from Ray. They are under $50. G

 

I see the nipple in the Bolt hole, but the "spring" I think is completely snapped off. It looks like a "Z" or an "N" depending on how you look at it, and is made of steel(i think) it looks like it is worth all of $.01 however that mounts behind a bit of plastic, and that snapped off, too. NEVER going to a full serve station again!
