Exclamation Fuel Pump Wont Turn On After Engine Rebuild!

Hey everyone...

I just got done rebuilding the motor and finally hooked everything up and now for some unknown reason the engine will not fire up...

The motor turns and smoke is coming from around the engine bay as well as the exhaust, but just wont fire up...

I checked everything and the last thing on my list was the fuel pressure, i put the key to the on position which should turn on the fuel pump, but the pump is not making noise...

Everything was working prior to the rebuild...(I had a blown Apex Seal) and now i cant figure out why the fuel pump wont come on!!!

Mods done while engine was out...

Emissions removed, harness clips cut and wires taped to harness, Oil Metering Pump and associated parts Removed...

Someone please help...

I have been searching with no luck, run into old posts of possible similar issues but no resolution given...just a dead end

Exclamation

Ok so its fine after the system was pressurized...

I was able to start the car, but when i turn the key on the Odometer lights up...

The moment i start the car the Oil Pressure gauge jumps to high (max) and none of the gauges work except for Fuel Level which is separate from Engine Harness And the Odometer reading disapears...only the standard back light is on..everythinkg is functioning fine and Power FC is displaying all data!!!

What ground could there be...I tested all the engine area grounds and they seem fine...I hooked up all the connectors to the ECU (4 yellow plugs) 1 blue and 2 white one to dash and the other to the box behind ECU...

Now What

You could buy my old gauge cluster, which is in need of tach repair

Most obviously would be to check your PFC's wiring harness to make sure it's secured properly, also check the connections going to the cluster. It's a tight fit back there and can sometimes be difficult to secure properly.

There's a lot of factors that could account for your gauges not working. It seems unlikely that they all crapped out at once. Have you double checked the connections to the PFC?

I guess that depends on whether or not I get the tach fixed before selling it. I suppose, as-is, I'd sell it for $100 shipped to the lower 48. It has 121xxx miles on it now.

Question

When you ran the engine wiring harness into the interior, did you plug in the white connector that's tucked up by the grommet that leads into the engine bay (where you passed the wiring harness through)?

I swore i connected all the plugs correctly at the ecu and instrument...but will double check...

Now here are the updates...

After reading some suggestions:

When i turn the steering wheel the gauges and odometer come alive, but only when i turn the steering wheel...so i grounded the power steering wire and got the RPM and odometer and oil pressure to come on...but the coolant temp stays on min and the coolant light and buzzer wont shut off...

This is insane

Yup it sure as hell was the sucker (white connector at the top) where i could not see, as i am 6.1" guy and the car is made for midgets

Ok so now that this is resolved, here is another one for ya...

My Add coolant light will not turn off!!! All the gauges are registaring and working fine tho...coolant is full and temps are normal!!! I connected all 3 factory plugs...2 in the back and 1 unfront of the coolant neck as well as my aftermarket temp gauge...WTF

Also one more question...the engine harness has a 2 individual wires...one is ground with a circle end...where does this attach...i have a PowerFC so does it hook up to the body or someplace on the PowerFC???
The second is a black/red female single plug...its not hooked up and i cant find where it would hook up to...Any suggections???

Thanks...

Ok so i checked the black single plugs behind the power steering and they were plugged in just fine...black with black...the white is not connected as i removed the AC...so after much investigation with little room and some surgeon tools...found that the connection from the battery harness on the driver side, the wire was only holding on to the connector by 2-3 strings...as well as the white connecor that the sensor plugs into had some coolant green powder corrosion crap on it so after cleaning and reclipping the parts...PROBLEM SOLVED...

Still have a question...

One single wire behind the ECY Black/Red where does it plug into??? HELP!!! Thanks...

So instead of thanking me you make a joke at the expense of my midget brethren ?

if my ECY you mean ECU, I'm pretty sure you can leave that guy unplugged. It's related the fan mod iirc....
