Fuel Injector Upgrade ???

I got a couple of questions regarding upgrading
the fuel injectors..

1. Is this something I can do myself, does it require special tools or equipment???

2. How involved is it?? do I have to tear down alot of stuff to do this??

3. Can I upgrade the Injectors by themselves?? or do i have to get other components? LIke new fuel rails and etc?

See my mods below..

Reason I am asking this is because yesterday. I was messing around doing some RUNS.. then while I was WOT at the end of 2nd and into 3rd.. the Car was Hesitating like it was missing. It wasn't bogging like
Fuel Cut. I know how that feels..

So then I looked at my PFC Max hold.. and I almost **** a brick.. my INjector Duty maxed out at 99.3%.
Thank god my motor didn't pop..

- If I have a leaky or faulty injector would that cause high injector duty cycles?? Rather than PFC being tuned
overly RICH??

THanks

I'm not going to comment on whether or not you need to upgrade your injectors. There are enough threads around about that which you can read and make up your mind.

However, about working on the injectors yourself? Well, you really don't need any "special" tools. Outside of the normal tools I would suggest that you get a "lost screw magnet" or grabber. That will become invalueable if you aren't good with working on cars.

Just FYI, the first time I removed the elbow, throttle body and UIM, it took me almost 3 hours (some of those hoses were just burnt on there). After doing it once (popping my cherry) it won't take as long, but the first time is a PITA as well as trying to get all the hoses connected when reinstalling all that stuff.

I didn't go all the way down to the injectors, but if you take your time it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you have the shop manual handy so you can look up what hose goes where when reconnecting everything.

You shouldnt do this as your project on wrenching your car. I would check out the price for a shop to do it and its in your budget, then that might be a better decision. It only seems you need to upgrade sec.'s to 1300 or 1600 when you go single turbo. You have a good amount of mods so that might be why its pushing it. Also what boost are you running? Tha can tell you a lot. I dont think your maxing duty cycle due to leaky injectors but just time for an upgrade. Iam still on stock twins so you might not want to take my advice on this.

BTW, something else to watch out for if you do this on your own, gaskets....

The throttle body gasket was stuck to the middle part of throttle body on my car. When I removed the throttle body, I didn't notice the gasket catching on the threads of the UIM. Needless to say, I'm awaiting a new gasket.

i dont see the benefit of upgrading the fuel pump only.
Some people say that upgrading the injectors is only necessary if you going single. Some memebers have done some testing to prove that the FD fuel system is sufficient to run close to 400rwhp....I say this...with full exhaust and intake i see anywhere from 88%-95% dutycyles...i need to upgrade the injectors and fp before i upgrade anything else.
