Fuel Door Won't open

My 93 FD fuel door will not open with the release. I read the owner's manual directions which sounds absurd ( remove acoustic wave system, ABS controller, etc...).
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Thank you

Its very easy to access the door from the area where the tire iron goes. You might also be able to see the cable in there and see it is stuck. Mine also does not work since I am missing the cable but I just open the hatch, reach in there and open the gas tank from in there when I need to.

Try unscrewing the plastic cover on the handle release on the Driver's side floor. Then you can loosen the bolts holding the cable. You may be able to adjust the cable tension enough to make it work. Squirt a little lubricant behind the aft part of the fuel door. Should help.

i have the problem in that it releases from the cable notch, but not far away enough to open it with your fingers... what i have to do every time is wedge one of my keys on the 6 oclock position, without pressing hard to keep the paint from scratching, and then reach into my cabin and open the door again, i hear my keys fall to the ground, and my fuel door opens. very white trash but hey, i dont want to even try and tear into whats causing it to stick

Mine doesn't work either. Its kinda imberising when you go to the pump and you gotta jimy the door open. NOT how an FD should be looked at my spectators.

Whenever people give me glances at my half *** way of fixing the problem.. i just let them know, that even thought i open my 400 hp rx7 fuel door the same way as they open their 85 berrettas fuel door, doesnt make them better than me....

you gots to be more flexable! i had this same prblem. you put your left foot under the gas door release and stretch over the gas door and pull on it as u pull up on the release. works!

Thank you everyone. A spray of lubricant thru the opening near the latch did the trick. Keeping the plastic, spring loaded pin lubricated is key.

don't use your keys.....use a credit card @ the 3 o'clock position. leave it wedged and then you don't have to stretch to reach the lever..........works every time

Don't use a screwdriver or a credit card. The simple fix is to put a screw and nut through the hole adjacent to the pin and adjust to put a little tension on the gas fill door. Works every time.
