Fuel Cut-Off Switch

Ok, I have searched this thing for a while now and can only seem to find info for the 2nd gen.

Essentially, I am having flooding issues and am working to install a fuel cut-off switch. All I need to know is which wire I need to tap into... The plugs are not consistent between 2nd and 3rd gen (unless I'm looking at the wrong plug) and I don't want to tap the wrong one.

I will be checking injectors, etc but just need to get it running for now.

Any help would be appreciated!

I imagine the easiest way would be to put a switch in the power line to the fuel pump.

just rewire the pump 12v entirely and remove the resistor pack. i belive its the white w/ red stripe for the 12v to the pump, add a switch to it or a momentary button (when pushed it cuts power not when pushed it adds power obviously)

I have heard there are issues with wiring into the power instead of the ground. I hadn't thought about removing the resistor pack...

Do not use a switch on the power or the ground for the fuel pump.

Put the switch on the control wire for the fuel pump relay. It is better to interrupt the ground side in this case.

THIS , if you put it on the power or ground switches re not exactly the best conductors of electricity so it would act as a resistor , and the pump wont be getting as much power/ ground as it would want.

Best thing to do is Like was stated above find the relay . if you did the fuel pump rewiring you are using the old power as the control wire . you can use that . otherwise download the FSM and study the wiring diagram it may take a while but you will understand and have a much better end result

Or ... if you have not done the rewire I would think now is hte best time to do it .

Have not done any re-wiring. I got this car a little over a year ago and the guy apparently was a bit clueless.

So I am best off finding the line from the EGI main relay and tapping off 87 (I believe it is) for the ground cut-off? I had actually started tracing that the other day.

I will have to do a search for the fuel-pump re-wire. This is really the first I have heard of this and you guys are making it sound like it's a pretty standard mod for the FD... Thanks for the insights.

i guess i should have been more descriptive in my response. rewire the pump entirely with a new relay. dont even bother fussing with the resistor pack.
