front cover teflon backup ring and o-ring
hi,
last week i disasemble a JDM 97 engine and there was not any teflon backup ring and oring on the front cover.
here i am posting a pic.
as you can see there is only a metal gasket that holds the oil.
per FSM there must be a ring and oring there.
do i mising something or someone forget to fit them in assembly?
please i need your experience.
should i fit one there?
thanks

They're necessary with a paper gasket, which is what the FSM assumes was used.
With the metal gasket (which has vastly superior sealing capability btw) those other two seals are not needed and should not be there. We've found them in the oil pan when tearing down a motor where the builder erroneously used them with the metal gasket.
