While i waited for car to come back from paint shop, I painted my scuff plates flat black, like 5 times. then I hand painted the RX-7 logo red. I then clear coated the scuff plate about 12 times. looks good. However, it is too shiny compared to the platic interior pieces it overlaps. Oh well.

Alright guys im bringing this thread back from the dead. Lets see what else we can come up with, ive done the 99' tail lights, the door sills, re-did my door handles, re-did my rims gunmetal (which looks damn good), did the fan mod, painted the calipers, and made a heatshield for the apexi intakes.
So what else can you guys come up with?

a job, and real mods jk
what about the torque brace? i remember a very nice ghetto write up on that...i think it was one of the more expensive ghetto mods tho, like 20 bucks.
also you can "smoke" your front turn signals and side markers...i did that. go to http://3sxperformance.com/detailing.asp and find the spray tint stuff. its like 15 bucks a can after shipping. 1 can is plenty for what i did.
I also got bored one day and polished a bunch of engine pieces that you dont pay attention to for practice.
If you do all that, give it a nice wash and wax and detail the interior. Some new air fresheners and its like a whole new car Then take pictures, showin it off is always the best part.

you sound just like me ages ago, fresh out of highschool. my first was a mb touring and i had a part time job and alot of time to work on the wip.
upgrade grounds
straighten out oil cooler fins
detail everything(shampoo carpet)
do fan switch mod
gut both cats
paint calipers and letter 'mazda' in silver
fill as many cavities between the interior plastic and body panels with sound deadening material as you can get to. i used cheap carpet pading.
flush all fluids and replace
pull that windshield vent off and paint black
paint marker lenses all the way around mb
got more play then id ever gotten with my taurus
i now have a job and an r1 so, im trying to not to be so ghetto, but it still comes out once in a while.
cheap, yet very effective

A list of things you can paint/touchup: Rims, windshield wipers, windshield vent, door handles, door trim.
Wax your car, remove dents and scratches.
If your car doesnt have dual oil coolers, remove the plastic covering over the side that doesnt have a cooler and you can make a pipe that goes from the duct on the bumper to your air box to make a custom cold air intake.
Hope that gives you some ideas.

This past weekend I bought some spray on Duplicolor truck bed liner. I sprayed the front lip which looked very faded and scratched up. Now it looks like new, it covered up the scratches very well and you cant even tell that there were any there. All you have to do is spray it from a little bit of distance from the surface and it pretty much kept the same texture that was there.
I also got tired of repeatedly using back to black and other similar crap that only works for a very short time and I sprayed the truck bed liner on the piece below the windshield (after taking it off) and I must say that it also looks pretty sweet, as good as new. I also sprayed the windshield wiper arms with some left over black testors model paint that I used on my calipers last year.
Duplicolor truck bed liner only cost me about $7 at the local Pep Boys

You could also fix/improve the passenger side door grip/handle. Try taking it apart and securing it so it can actually be used to close the door. Like JB-weld or something.
Note: I have not actually done this yet. I take no responsibility for anything you do to your car.
