Has anyone had both the Feed style and Garfinkle design to give a comparison? I see people have one or the other but it doesn't seem that anyone has owned both.

PM me and I will give you his phone number. I am guessing his current price for the brace is still well under $100. I really like mine and David is awesome to work with.

BTW I really did not mean to solely endorse Steve even though he is an excellent tuner. I also have personal knowledge of Tony "BADDOG's" work and would not hesitate to recommend him for tuning your PFC with his datalogit/WB setup. I have also heard good things about others (ASpec and others) but have no first hand knowledge of their work.

I ordered and received the ebay FEED type torque bar. The instructions are excellent...required some drilling of the mount to shift the connecting mount to nut rub the ABS nut closest to the firewall. The instructions are detailed with pics and straight forward. The mounts are about 1/8" thick...not sure of the material/metallurgy.

The benefits are easily seen and felt. My idle become smoother as did my shifting. There is no rattling at idle and my pettit short shifter does not move as much during revs and hard acceleration. The piece is very nice and adequately packaged.

Good purchase for $110...if the FEED type torque brace is your preference. I am sure Garfinkles and excellent choice too.

For the LAST time I am going to spend my time talking about a person who started out as a stranger selling me an engine torque brace and has since become one of my most favorite friends.

What can I say about David. The man is providing a product that gets rave reviews. . .he has been working on rotaries since the 70's, he is a motorcycle and car designer, he has been written about by numerous chopper magazines, he owns one of the most beautiful silver 3rd gens I have ever seen and he works out of a garage building in his back yard. No-one I have ever heard of has said a bad word about him, he is fair and honest and a genuinely good person. He is always trying to develop new parts for our cars and when they prove out, he makes them available most inexpensively.

He does not race vehicles, he builds them for others to race, including one very hot 30 year old turbocharged drag bike with bodyparts and framework he fabricated from scratch.

Has anyone ever told you that much about anyone else you have done business with? How much do you really know about Ray at SR, or the guys at Atkins, or even Ari. I personally have a number of horror stories to tell about Ray and Atkins, but people would rather beleive the SR and Atkins advertisements. Just cause David doesn't hype himself is no reason to question HIS background more than others, especially when people are asking about a part he offers that is so superior to the competition on its face that it and its fabricator should need no defense.

If you all are disinterested in purchasing something from David, fine. But it is time to put the implied character assassination crap away. Enough!!

BTW I agree wholeheartedly with you about Steve, but he is exactly like David in that he earned my respect one on one. You should try the same with David. If you want his address or phone number PM me, he does not do internet. Really you should call him and chat him up for a while, you will be VERY impressed.

Finally, if you are looking for a tuner, call Steve, David is NOT a tuner, he is an engine builder, general mechanic and designer/fabricator of parts.
Wow. Thanks for the PM Jeff, I honestly missed this post. No insult whatsoever intended towards Garfinkle (who I now know is David Garfinkle); I suppose my "legendary" smart-*** humor got carried away a bit . It sounds like he's a great guy and an asset to the rotary community. Based upon duboisr's many responses in the 3rd gen section, I had come to the conclusion that the guy knew his $hit, whoever he was.

This is the first time that I've seen a response to the "Who is Garfinkle?" question (I was away from the forum from the time I deployed in early april until a few weeks ago, with some minimal access available sporadically). Thanks for the clarification Jeff, and again no ill will intended .

take care,
Rich

Ebay Item

Just as a follow up...I just got an e-mail from CP Racing saying the item wont ship today becasuse it is "Bulit-To-Order" I am taking this to mean that it "IS NOT" a GTMM Brace (Garfinkle The Mystery Man Brace) So when I get it I will let y'all know what the quality is like and such.

I just recieved the torque brace that I bought on Ebay. It looks exactly like the feed one. Instalation was simple. I thought it would vibrate the car because there is no rubber to help absorb the vibrations. To my surprise it was vibration free. The car felt new. It makes the short shifter that much more accurate. I would recommend it to everyone.

Yes, I had to drill new holes beside the old ones. Just drill another hole about 3/4" over so that the brace clears the abs unit. Did you not get any instructions with yours?

He didn't finish the instructions and I told him to just ship them out w/o them.
No biggie, I can just email him for it.

Guys, I think your taking this thread a little too far. IMO the best brace is this brace >

http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=209&1=339&3=613

I used it and bolts in right the first time no drilling & no BS. Does not vibrate the car to hell and looks good. But this is IMO. Why go thru all this crap to get all these "other styles" when you can get a easy 123 install brace cheap and easy from the above link.

I have not had both in my car but I have driven a car with both. The Garfinkle brace is the way to go. There is minimal vibration at start up and none while driving or stoping. The Garfinkle brace is solid and a pleasure to have in my car.

Ok.. Do any of you have pics of this famous Garfinkle brace??

Also, the one on ebay.. the shock.. how much pound does it take to compress.. If its a cheap shock, I don't know if it will do any good.. or maybe it doesn't compress at all.. and just a look.
