Before you touch the car...dust for prints. I know it may be a waste of time for the police, but all you have to do is take your girlfriend's makeup and "dust" parts of the interior/exterior. (I'm assuming that they used their bare hands). After that, you just have to have either the police OR a private detective run a check on the prints. Also, keep in mind that the tow truck driver most likely left his prints on the car too, so dust for several prints. (The private eye can also dust for prints for you).

I mean, considering that you do wash your car frequently, the amount of fingerprints should be at a minimal. Also, besides you, your friends, and maybe the tow truck driver...there should be no other fingerprints on the car. The police do not typically dust for prints (if at all) in a stolen car case.

This is what I would do. I think it is worth the money to spend on a private detective to find these guys and give them a royal beat down! After doing that, I would show my fingerprint findings to the police to have them locked up for awhile.

Sorry about the loss. I know how it feels - got my Type-R stolen back in November. If I could only get 5 min alone with these bastards, they would be screaming "Mama!!!!!". I did get the R1 as a replacement, though

From your post, it seems that you think that this was a pro job. Considering they took the windows, seems appropriate. I am just wondering if this is something the rest of us Cali FD owners should start worrying about. Maybe we should start some sort of post, specific to regions, for sightings of stolen FDs and parts. Who knows, this might lead to getting some ******** in jail (and then we can laugh when they get a new boyfriend named "Bubba")

I will definitely keep an eye out for your rims - just too bad they seem to fit on quite a few models of cars.

Frank69M - sorry to burst your bubble, but the the clutch club thing (and nearly any other type of security measure) won't stand up to a flatbed.

Well i went to see the car today. They did forget to take off some stuff. In order to keep the car a rolling chassie they left on my HKS Hiper dampers and sway bars. They also left the KnightSports Hood, headlights and side view mirrors. They did take the spoiler though.

Everything else was gone and no the guy was wrond there were still windows. Here are some pic of my baby may she rest in pieces.

The next time you have tires put on your wheels fill out 3 by 5 note cards with your contact info and write on them that if someone is doing work on these wheels in the future and the info on the card does not match the info on the work order they may be stolen and should call you and the police. Put the cards in Zip Lock bags and have them put into your tires before they mount them on the wheels.
That's a great idea but I'll go you one better! I Dremeled (Is that a verb now?) my VIN, name, DL number, phone, insurance company toll free number and policy number, and E-mail (but not my physical address!) on the inside rim of my wheels before I had the tires mounted, but you could also do it with the tires mounted just as easily.
I then sprayed the etching bright yellow and wiped the overspray clean to get some attention!
I also posted a notice of a $100 cash reward if they were found in anybody's possession but my own notifying them to call the local fuzz immediately in order to start the reward process.
Thieves hate this kind of **** 'cause it makes them hard to sell quickly to an unsuspecting buyer, and if they grind off the etching it would certainly make a buyer wonder why they would do that, not to mention lowering the value of the wheels. It took all of 5 minutes per wheel to do this.
Moral of the story: ETCH everything!

Here's a pic of the driver side...look they cut my steering wheel to get the CLUB off.

My CLUB was placed nicely on my floor right next to the anti carjacking unit and alarm that i had in the car.

******* insult to injury.

3 alarms? any physical deterents like that new Auto Lock Pro? or something to cut the starter, water pump, etc? where in the he!! was your car that they had time to steal it with all the alarms you had? That's why I keep mine in the garage, and I only take it out to cruise. Back when I had a cheaper car that was stolen, my club was found in the back seat, so I learned my lesson then. To bad you had to learn yours on a very nice car

Unhappy

I feel so bad for you. I know you must be hurting inside and I hope everything works out for you. Where were you when the car was stolen? I guess this car will never be in The Fast and Furious movie again. I always thought that you had one of the best RX-7s out there.

I saw this one today at Yohann Plaza, and I just so happened to have my digicamera with me, so I took a pic of it, just in case if it was your car. But upon closer inspections, it didnt really look like it. I dont know who owns it and I hope he wont mind. but, nice rims any how. Kinda beat up in the front too, maybe he wants to sell it

You know ... it almost couldn't have been RX-7 guys who stole it and stripped it because they left the KS headlights in ... and that passenger side cover. If they knew FDs, they'd know those aren't the stock lights. Plus, light assemblies take 3 minutes to remove so it would've been more than worth their while to have taken them if they knew better.

So based on that, I don't know if it's good or bad. It could be good because they could be idiots about getting rid of the parts. But it could be bad in the same way -- they just have a "buyer" that they sell everything to and parts go somewhere overseas.

****** bummer on this bro. This, my friend, is the reason I refuse to move to another apartment that doesn't have a closing, locking garage. My FD spends most of it's time in there anyway, so there's no reason not to make a nice home for it. I'll keep an eye out for those rims, but if I find 'em, it'll be tough not to just put them on my FD...they're super dope rims!

Sadly the police won't 'waste' any of their time on this kind of thing. I know from experience.

If not emotionally, I hope you are at least able to physically replace the car. Best of luck with insurance.

Anyone still think 'Gone in 60 Seconds' is cool???

Would a Lojak have helped?
