That's a good one, too. But I don't hear it nearly as much as "Taxi!" when I pull up at SCCA events and such. All the yellow cars catch flak, 'Vettes, Evo's, Honda S2K's, but the other nondescript colored cars get ignored. Maybe if I was 18-27 years old I'd like that, but at 60 I don't drive anything to be noticed anymore. I just like yellow.

I already catch a lot of attention while driving the FD out on the streets and it sucks. I can't imagine having to put up with even more attention with a CYM. That must be nuts!

Unfortunately, one of the "byproducts" of catching attention is a speeding ticket. I had a red FB for 20 years. I would get pulled over at least once a year for speeding. With the white FD, I have been pulled over once in 7 years.

My Black Miata and Red FC used to get a ton of attention from police, and i constantly got tickets in those.

Silver GTR has no cat, full exhaust and so far in almost a year, i got pulled over once (cop was a cool guy).

I think color does matter to an extent, but the condition of the car helps too a lot and how it's presented.

If I were a young man, I'd have a lot more trouble. I got pulled over once doing 70 in a 65 zone, the cop comes up to the window all ready to give what he assumed to be a young punk driver some attitude, but when he leaned down and saw an old bald white guy behind the wheel, he really had to do a double take. He ended up being very polite and asking more about the car than if I knew I was going 5 mph over the limit.

And of course I get a lot of slammed rice-wagons roaring up beside me at traffic lights all ready to posture, but once again the young guys - and girls - are thrown off by seeing a geezer behind the wheel and lose their 'tudes pretty quick. Usually they just smile and nod and give me a thumbs up, but sometimes they seemed pissed off that I'm not their age. I actually got "chased" quite a bit at first, but now it seems all the youngsters in the area know the car and who drives it.

Then Chevrolet must be run by girls...pick any magazine and you'll see most articles about supercars almost always includes yellow Corvettes Z-06s.

What about the new Camaro? Is that a girly car in yellow?

Check out the Motor Trend Magazine from feb 1993 when the RX7 was chosen as import car of the year....car on the cover is CYM....didn't look girly to me.

Damn, Hatin' on the Meister M2Rs (what look like).

Not as nice as the S1, but not THAT bad. I think would look nicer on a clean stock body yellow FD.

Hey Guys,
yeah sorry i should have kept my opinion to myself. I have a buddy with a CYM, so i have seen and even driven one. Its an fd with a yellow paint job.

There is a name for someone that thinks something is superior sorely due to its color. lol

as for my meister M2Rs wheels, yeah work wheels suck. i dont know what i was thinking buying dished staggered racing wheels??? maybe they would look better if i painted them yellow.
Yellow Supremacy Reign On!
Peace

I agree. In my opinion, the smooth finish of the 93 is much better. It is easier to damage the finish, but that was due to poor paint preparation. It’s easy to have them redone and with proper prep they will last very well. But back to the original question of which is more desirable. I think that is a matter of personal choice. I own a Montego Blue 93 with the tan/black interior. That was the car I was searching for, so to me that is the most desirable. Many people will say that is the worst of all. I say “Opinions are like ********. Everybody has one and they all stink.” From a financial stand point none of these cars will ever be worth enough to be concerned about color. The real attraction of these cars is driving one and with that in mind color is meaningless. Personally, I love them all.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense if you also believe that the difference between a Mustang and a Shelby is just a few things. The difference is about 100k in todays market. The difference might be minor to some but in the world of cars is the little things that count.NO?
100K ???? there's not an RX7 out there worth anywhere near $100k, except maybe in the eyes of the owner. And there's definitely not $100k difference between a base, touring, R1 or R2 of the same vintage with the same mileage and the same condition.

Reading comprehension is your friend. He's saying that an R1 in todays market (read: dollar value) is $100k due to inflation. I dont think $100k is accurate but I gather it was just an exagerated example on his part. According to an inflation calculator that I found on line $40,000 dollars in 1993 is the equivalent of $59,208.98 in 2008. Source: http://dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm

I think maybe that is the main point about the 94-95 finish being better. You don't have to re-do it

That was exactly my point..even with all the mods a lot of people on this forum have done there still isn't one worth $100k let alone a stock R1, R2 or any other model. So maybe you should practice what you attempt to preach.

Yeah, maybe if you're worried about spending a couple hundred dollars. I'm willing to spend that to get the better appearance (IMO) of the 93 panels. If you're not willing to spend a couple hundred bones then the FD is probably not the ideal car for you.
