i think this is to directly replace the valves on stock turbos....two that are on the y-pipe...

the stock valves work fine for recirculating (if you don't want the sound), but why would you want to vent the charge relief to atmosphere? Then you'll have an annoying hissing sound almost every time you get into boost.

Definitely over kill if you want to use one of those as a CRV.

Forge has a twin fetish.

Twintercooler
Twintake

It doesn't really make sense. I wonder if they are actually calculating the efficiency of thee products or if they are just selling two of everything because it sounds cool. "OH yeah I have TWO bovs!"

well not really forge does alot of factory replacement/enhancement stuff...

like for audis and all that, they all come from factory with twin intercoolers
so they do alot of upgrades to go in place of stock systems...

which is exactly what that twin BOVs for the FD is meant...cus the car comes stock with twin BOVs, one for the primary and one for the secondary

I run dual BOVs, purely as an experiment. I wanted a setup that offered the flow of a large valve unit, the response of small diameter diaphragm units, the reliability of the stock unit, and the ability to recirculate. I ended up with this (sorry for the blurry pic):

You can see the BOVs on the hotpipe. The setup consists of 2 metal reinforced Porsche Bosch style valves and a factory rubber piece that 996tts use for their twin BOV setup. The flange is just a 1.5" piece of pipe that the rubber boot clamps over. It would be pretty easy to replicate the setup for under $150.

thats a pretty cool setup man...but why not just get an HKS Super Sequential...isnt that the purpose of the sequential system in the HKS unit?

I hate the sound of the SSQV, I want to recirc (fabbing my intake pipe as soon as the engine is back in), and I wanted to try it out. This setup was cheap, simple to implement using locally available parts (with warranty), and works absolutely great. I've used many different BOVs over the years and so far this is my favorite setup.

If all I ever did was copy other people's setups, I'd have the most boring car on the planet.

^^Do you have plans to fabricate a proper intercooler duct? As-is, that may be less efficient than the cereal-box sized stock cooler at speed.

The car has BOV and a CRV stock. They do not perform exactly the same. As arghx said venting the CRV will just be annoying as it vents boost generated by the secondary turbo during spool up. You will just get an annoying sound between 3000-4500 rpms with the CRV vented to atmosphere. It is not designed to be a quick release of pressure like a standard BOV, but rather a continual one.

The charge relief and air bypass valve work the same way: when enough vacuum is applied, the valve opens and air passes (they do not work on a pressure difference like other types of OEM and aftermarket valves). The actual CRV and ABV themselves are nearly identical. They have different purposes however.

As the secondary turbos spins up (but before it is fully online), the charge relief valve opens to dump compressed air back to the airbox. Its vacuum source comes from the vacuum chamber via the charge relief solenoid. If you replace this with an aftermarket open-atmosphere valve, you will hear air from the secondary turbo every time the charge relief solenoid engages. If you've ever heard the factory CRV open to atmosphere, it will sound like a big boost leak.

The air bypass valve is more like a recirculating blowoff valve. When you close the throttle, manifold vacuum will open the valve to release air back to the airbox. If you are looking for a particular sound then changing this one out for aftermarket would be the right choice.

Sure do, but I can't make it until I put my motor back in. I have a big roll of carbon waiting though The engine bay in that pic is a thing of the past it only went together that way so that I could enjoy driving it for a few weeks before our roads got pwnt by snow.
