I was simply pointing out that rather than designing the car with the intercoolers in the side of the car in more direct airflow, as seen in the XJ220 (yeah, I found an example of a high end turbo car with essentially "front" mount ICs ) that Ferrari must not have worried about heat soak too much.....

A-Spec: my tube bender didn't quite go up to that size so I used two big (7/8 and 1") combo wrenches. I just put the closed ends over the couple end and picked strategic places to do the bending... made em look just like the BLITZ pictures.

Anyway, on the IC topic SR even has an awsome horizontal mount with almost no pressure drop that I even considered. With a stock hood Ray said it worked very nicely and I figured with a vented style is would really kick ***, and keep the rad cool...

My deciding factors were design, what you actually got for the cost, safety(ie. bumper support) and install difficulty...
The APEXi FM was a good deal but I was doing custom intakes for cooler air with less expense.
The SR hor-mount was kindof expensive for what was included and there were no plans for vented hoods on the cars that were getting the ICs.
IMHO the BLITZ looked the best and had very good specs and the most stuff included for install.
And like I said, with the Fluidynes these cars have run excellent coolant temps.
As for AC both cars have them and my Supra with a FMIC still cooled me down at traffic lights in the middle of MD summer, so I figured the FDs AC just might work okay too...

another really nice FMIC sutup is the custom one at www.turbostreetfighter.com . it uses a spearco core, and looks really nice. not too expensive either. the only thing is, the piping looks kinda ghetto.

Ok...I'd rather you get the APEXi kit then the greddy...but you have one BIG issue with the Apexi FMIC...I was under the impression that the routing on the piping does not allow you to use the m2intake that you state on your mod list...

You can however get a rx7fashion FMIC...same skyline GTR core as apexi and you can use the box style intake....

Just a thought...

Looks pretty good with the stock bumper....How is the A/C condensor moved? I heard you really have to lay it flat....Is this true?

Do I have to relocate theBattery on any of these ICs?

Anyone with pics of installations for these IC (Greddy or Apexi) Please email them to me at Rotary93@optonline.net
thanks
Anthony

i dont like the RX-7 Fashion unit because: A) $$$ B) gotta remove the bumper reinforcement C) the endtanks are designed like **** and give terrible pressure drop

i would reccoment the Williams FMIC from www.turbostreetfighter.com . you will be able to keep your intake.

yeah, the AC Condenser must be relocated to a horizontal position. some say this reanders your AC useless, but for some it still works ok.

you dont have to relocate the battery with the Apex FMIC, but you have get a smaller one, like the Miata battery.

do a seach. there are many pics.

Ok JoeD

a) cant argue with that
b) ok that, but I'm sure other FMIC require that too
c) Not be be an ***, but I've never seen numbers to prove or dissprove that statement...so I dont know...Can you back that up ?

I'm a little lazy right now to go look on his website...I'm sure williams IC is nice, but does he state pressure drop on his IC ?

Rotary93,
I know for a fact that with the A'pexi fmic the AC will become practically useles. The problem is that the condensor must be layed horizontally and the intercooler actually sits "on" it(it might not actually touch it, but it's very close). Having the condensor flat will prevent "any" and "all" air from going through it which makes it useless, preventing the AC coolant from cooling down. In the end, if your AC "does" work, it will be very insufficiently, and I can't imagine what it would be like driving my car with black leather seats on a 95+ degree summer day. If you can live without the AC though then the A'pexi is your best bet.

David Payne on the forum has the Apex kit and I know he told me the AC was still ok. It does get 90+ here in TN with near 100% humidity durning the summer. While not perfect, don't forget that heat rises. I am just curious how you know for a fact-have you owned and used this IC?

The A/C may work somewhat with the Apexi unit, but as I said earlier in a previous post the pressure in the system will insure that it does not last long unless you rig up some extra fans. Even then it is so close to the plastic shield under the car that I don't know where its going to suck air from. I liked the Apexi IC but I like my A/C too and I have seen what can happen when condensor fans don't work on regular cars. It isn't pretty.

Does anyone know of a FMIC that works with a cold air box, like M2 or CWR? It looks like the Blitz might, but I'm not sure.

I have hooked up a fan to the condensor and wired it to turn on when I turn the A/C on. Does a great job and didnt cost much for the small fan.

Blitz will not accomodate any of the cold car boxes for sure. I had to sell my RX7fashion intake after I got the blitz fmic.
