OK First engine build.

Well i did my first engine build a few weeks ago and just started it a few days ago, it runs good but at idle the oil temp is very high, i have to turn it off after a few min of running, coolant is at normal temp. the oil temp just keeps rising, I'm using a greedy oil/water temp sensor and gauge. i have good oil pressure from what i can tell but it runs at 1500-2000 rpms idle. I've looked up post for people that have had the same issues but have found nothing over it. I've used the oil pump and rotor housings from a reman engine with under 10k miles. The side housings are new and the engine has been balanced and all seals and bearings are new as well, Im running stock ecu with omp and premix as well. Any ideas why the oil would be heating up to high temps? i have run out of ideas of what could cause it.

what temps are you seeing on your oil gauge? i couldn't tell you what is exactly the spec for the oil temp as factory cars do not come with one, first thing i would check is your OMP make sure that is in working order.

The highest I've let it rise to befor shutting it off was 240 f. All I know is that it's a greddy oil / water temp sensor with the greddy gauge. It was already installed on the car when I got it. After the build though I had to buy another temp sensor because the original one broke the wire off inside the sensor and couldn't reattach it. Ok I'll check it out and see what I come up with

Hi did you check and inspect the thermal pellet, i beleive this controls oil to the coolers?

pap got my wires crossed there, thermal pellet only controls oil to the rotors for fast warm up. so i dont beleive this would cause the oil tempratures you are seeing. Have you got good oil pressure?. I beleive inside the engine there is an oil thermostat that controls flow of oil to coolers, maybe its jammed and not letting oil flow through the coolers, but ive never heard of it happening.

Maybe that sensor you got for the gauge isnt calibrated for that gauge

So I checked the omp, well I unhooked one of tge lines connecting to it and I started getting a steady drip, the car wasn't running since last night. So from what I saw it seems to be pushing oil In the lines

Btw tge car wasn't running when I unhooked it, I'm am running premix 1/2 ounce to every gallon of fuel. Isn't the thermostat located on the frot engine cover ?

Here is a full detailed report over it.

When first starting when cold it jumps to 3000 rpms *at 90 psi on the oil and temp is still below 30c

After 30 seconds drops to 1500 rpms at 40-45 psi

3 min coolant is up to temp the oil is at 70-75 and 40-45 psi

2 more min coolant is still normal, oil * Is at 20-25 psi and temp is close to 100c then I shut off.
