Fire Extinguisher & Mounting

Fire Extinguisher & Mounting
After reading another fire thread, I wanted to put this information out there. As we all know, fire extinguishers for Rx7's is an absolute essential. It can be the difference between retaping a few wires or watching your entire Rx7 dreams go up in literal flames.
I have had a H3R Halguard extinguisher for awhile but have foregone the project of actually mounting it. Currently it sits behind my passanger seat. For those that don't know Halguard is a Halon type extinguisher that will not corode automotive paint and components. They are specifically designed by H3R for automotive use.
It's been hard to tack down the right mount, and accessibility that I have been looking for. So I started really looking, and I found this.... The Drake mount
With the universal finish and ease of mounting, it's an obvious winner. I have a few ideas of where to mount it.
1. Rear strut bar
2. Between the rear bins for easier access.
3. Fabricating a plate arm for mounting in front of the passenger seat.
As you can see, there are many options, and many configurations. The bracket sells for around $65. A kit including the bracket, extinguisher, and clamps can be purchased here....
I hope this helps.

"I drill mine in, but if you wanted to some double sided tape would do the trick... "
Double sided tape will not hold that in an accident. Last thinkgyou need is a pressured bottle being hurdled forward after a 10g crash. In fact i would not trust bolting to anything but steel on steel.
My extingusher is mounted to the roll bar braceing behind the pass. seat. but even that I worry abouit the mount clamps working loose, now I do like this braket. Would be great to mount on floor in front of pass seat.

I have a can of Cold Fire in my passenger storage bin. It's safe and not roaming around, it's accessible, and it's ready to go.
BTW, many cheap fire extinguishers do as much damage as the fire, they're VERY corrosive and messy. Halon type extinguishers are a good way to go, but you have to track them down - I think Halon isn't made any more or something. Cold Fire is a good way to go, it's also not highly corrosive.

This mount is very similar to this one Poly Performance Quick Release Mount
The Drake looks like a quality unit. I have the one from Poly Performance, just need to get it mounted.
Oh, the Poly Performance version is 1/3 the price of the Drake.

The package including the extinguisher, mount, and clamps is $200.
Either way, I like that one as well.

Here is what I did:
This is a 2.5 lb. H3R Halgard fire extinguisher purchased two years ago from Summit Racing:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HTR-HG250C/
It is mounted to a custom plate that bolts under the seat with this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HTR-BB250B/
Not my design. I borrowed this from the SakeBomb GB thread (which hasn't happened yet - I believe Heath is working on it). Didn't think I would like the location in the car until I saw the GB thread and a friend on mine is a metal fabricator so he did the custom plate for me for a six pack
Anyway, ubber convenient and I do love the look as well.
The metal fabricator has commented he'd make a run of these but I spoke to Heath and they said they were going to do this.

Sorry to throw the thread off topic... But the extinguisher bracket is priority one on the product design front once we return from deals
edit: I probably should be posting under the SBG name, oh well most of you know me haha.
