Welcome to the FD family! I thought I'd make a list of things I wish I had known sooner for reliability and upgrades—these are the things I've done personally throughout my ownership since 2017. I was bored at work, so I put together this small list of mods I've done, excluding the obvious reliability mods like maintenance. There's plenty more to research on your own.

-Secuity relay bypass so car starts every-time. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-relay-872841/

-The best place for an aftermarket coolant temp sensor is in the throttle body hose. It's easy to install and provides accurate readings. The OEM gauge, IMO, is unreliable since it doesn't show the exact temperature. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...d-idea-392910/

-Rx8 fan mod, blows more air, OEM look, draws less amps. Great for hot climates. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...x7-fd-1085155/
-JP3 will be releasing a kit soon.

-Use Viton check valves for the rats nest, OEM check valves falls apart every time. https://www.ebay.com/itm/223196873929

-These 2 stoppers fell apart on me before, buy 2 new ones for the brake pedal and clutch. https://jp3motorsports.com/products/...-pedal-stopper

-This ground sucks, it utilized the fuse block bracket to ground the engine to the chassis, run you own cable. https://motoiq.com/project-fd-rx7-re...-relocation/8/
JP3 also makes a great kit that solves all of these issues, but you’ll need to upgrade to a different battery size. It's worth looking into, especially if you're planning to go with a V-mount setup anyway. https://jp3motorsports.com/products/...ttery-tray-kit

-Since you're in California and likely need to keep the air pump to pass emissions, Knight Sports makes silencers for the air pump that can help if you're particular about noises. https://www.nengun.com/knight-sports/air-pump-silencer

Remove this from the rear of your engine (Driver side), it fails, it happened to me. It was only used for easy assembly. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...astic-1049590/

-Get a FC thermoswitch, the FD's thermoswitch activates way too hot. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-arch...tch-fd-447606/

Good luck with emissions!
