Well, stop beating around the bush. What exactly are you trying to say? Perhaps Dave at KD Rotary and I lied about the dyno results in order to pull the wool over everybody's eyes. Maybe I'm just a ******' shitty driver. I mean, what the hell is your point? What do *you* think I should be trapping, little Joe? What do you trap in Mommy's Mercedes? Hopefully LaBreck will happen upon this post and bitchslap you like he always does .

And I was hoping this would be a positive post.....

RX-7s making as much power as yours shoud trap a little higher.

No...never said anything like that. In fact, the reason why I pointed out trap speed (regardless of the fact that I really dont care about the E.T. for any car. I feel trap speed is more important), is because it doesn't have much to do with driver-skill and traction, as long as you dont miss a shift badly. It shows the ***** and top-end acceleration of the car, rather than E.T. which is based mostly on the driver.

I dunno. Havn't taken it to the track since it's not broken in yet, but I never plan to anyways. It should trap around 116, or at least that's what a few magazines got it to. I might take it up there with my Grand National buddy next time, but I dont really see the need to run it.

Sorry, but I don't think the lame "you are a liar" or "you dont pay for anything you spoiled little kid" speach is considered a bitch-slap, nor can one get a bitch-slap from words on a computer written by someone they will never meet.

Well, that was a surprisingly mature reply to my rant. I've trapped as high as 114 at this track.....as far as what you think I should be trapping, where are you gathering your info from?

Umm...thanks. I don't really resort to flaming and calling names, and I never have. It just sounds...retarded.

Yeah...114 sounds pretty good. I'd say even 115 with good air.

As to where I am getting my info? Being a member of this forum for more than two years and seeing what FDs of similar power run, and generally seeing cars of similar (~2800) weight and power.

I don't know what all the complainting is about. A 112mph trap speed does not reflect 360+rwhp. I don't know what rwhp he had at that time but it was not 360+. If he had 360+rwhp the mph would be at least 117. It's a matter of physics.

Trust me I know and if LaBreck gets on here he will agree.

I was running 13 psi. Also, I've since switched to 17 inch Fikses over the stockers, which prolly slowed me down a bit. Dave tuned me in PA in march......the car was very very fast after getting tuned, but seems to have lost a little oomph since then. Most likely a combination of higher air temps and my turbos slowly fading away.

I don't think you guys understand the crappy conditions this track offers--maybe wankel power can toss in his opinion.

Regardless, I'm happy as a pig in ****....the street car that cuts a sub-13 pass at Temple/Academy is few and far between .

Re: Finally cut a 12 second pass

[i]
Me Iroc
R/T 0.54 0.69
60FT 2.13 2.30
330FT 5.55 5.87
1/8ET 8.40 8.75
1/8MPH 89.57 86.25
1/4ET 12.76 13.18
1/4MPH 112.16 111.00
WINNER 0.56

Needless to say, I'm pretty damn happy. I've trapped 114 at the track before, and I know I can get deeper into the 12s. I'm still running my original turbos with 92k miles (at 13psi on this particular pass) and a high flow cat. Thought I'd share with you guys . [/B]
R/T looks great. 2.13 with 35psi on street tires looks good too. 12.76 with stock turbos with 92k miles sounds good too. Whatever was tuned in 3-2002 in PA is not what it is now. So what, things change. As long as it is reliable and does not blow up that is the key to me.

Too many tune at the ragged edge and end up blowing up in different environments. Dave, I think, tries to tune conservatively so you don't blow up when the environment changes.

I'd rather be reliable and sacrafice a little performance and not blow up.

I hope he does the same for me in the next two weeks.

Thanks for the constructive post, Ken. This thread was degrading for a little while there. Also, I know you'll be very happy with Dave's tuning---you're 100% correct about the safety.

As an aside....how do you like the LaBreck bushings?

How do I know. I have not seen my car for 20 months.

Dave says the bushings make the car run like it is on rails. Should help cure wheel hop too.

Whatever JIMLAB says you can take it to the bank. He's working on unbreakable differential parts for his monster FD V8 now. That will be a winner, if he does it, for all the high-performance drag racers.

you guys seem to have had it with JoeD....hopefully not me also

here let me rephrase.....can't 60 foot times be really good even with street tires and practice? Like almost 2 flat or below?

great job on the 12s I know when I hit 12s next time I'm gonna have a huge grin on my face and I'll be happy cause I made the rx7 look good in front of everyone watching and maybe they'll learn about rotary power!

Just before this threat turned into a war, I asked a question about your IC fan. Does your FD have a noticeable performance gain W/ the IC fan on?
Thanks

Hey,

initially I was annoyed b/c I didn't understand what you were saying.

I've seen 2 flat 60 foot times. You're not going to see much better on street tires--the traction isn't there, bottom line. And as you make more power, wheel hop gets more pronounced. I'm sure you can get a bit lower by experimenting with tire pressures and suspension settings.

Yes indeed, the V8s know not to **** with me....especially when I tell them I'm faster above 100. You should see the look on their face when I say, "4th gear (from 100 to 140) is my strongest gear....when I finish the 1/4, I'm just getting started. So, you wanna go race on the highway ?" They're like,

Yeah, it seems this happens alot in my threads. Maybe it's just me

The main benefits I have realized from the fans:

cruising around at speeds below 60mph I see the temps drop down around 5 degrees.

At the road course it definitely helps---the more air, the better when you're constantly on it. My intake temps don't skyrocket as high.

At the strip, the main benefit is to spray water into the duct and have the fans suck it through the fins in between runs. Helps keep the IC from heat soaking so much. By doing this I can keep my intake temps manageable---around 40-50, whereas they used to jump to 70 after repeated runs in the texas heat.

12.7 at 112 is very respectable on a poopy track. Wheels will slow you down a little and cool air always helps - I'm sure your turbos are wearing down since they are original. I'll get my BNR twins in soon. If they perform the way they are supposed to I'm sure they would add some mph to your traps Nice run even though other people don't think so

I dont know what you guys have against this guy but his post seems pretty accuate. With his mods i would expect a trap speed of around 117mph. I traped those speeds with only full exhaust, intake, and power fc @12.5 boost on a 95 degree day in July. I have seen alot of other posts that have similar results as me.
As far as track conditions...i would think they would have a greater impact on ET then trap speed.
I am not dissing on you goodfella just stating my experiences.
