Smile Finally cut a 12 second pass

I went to the local shitty strip last night for Test and Tune with the intention of checking out the cars and getting some exposure for Gotham Racing.

I slapped a big-*** sticker on the back of my R1 (first sticker ever) and decided to rwear my "Mazda RX-7....Pistons Not Required" T-shirt.

When I showed up, it was V8 city. Vettes, Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds everywhere. I don't think they liked the shirt much . The only fast import at all was my bud Orin, running mid 11s in his 1991 twin Blitz turbo Supra.

Now, this track flat out blows.....there is a slight incline, then decline in the left lane, and both lanes tilt to the left a bit. Traction is always a problem, and it's right next to a river, so the air is humid. The place is like my mortal enemy....I've cut numerous 13.0s but never gotten 12s. I've talked to about twenty guys that have run up at Ennis and dropped .4 to .5 off their times at Temple/Academy (the strip I was at), which is pretty astounding when you think about it. I really need to get up to Ennis.

That said, I decided to make a last-minute pass before closing to show the local domestics my taillights. I am running 35 psi in all my s03s, and my tanabe coilovers are on full stiff from my last road race event. I was basically in full street trim and wasn't expecting much.

I lined up against an Iroc with cams, a cage, and serious meats on the back. The guy had a helmet on, and had a "1" on his windshield, so I knew he had made many passes tonight. Better yet, I was in the damn left lane. I wasn't planning on launching to save some wear and tear on the ppf and diff, but at the last second revved her to 3500 and sidestepped the clutch.
Me Iroc
R/T 0.54 0.69
60FT 2.13 2.30
330FT 5.55 5.87
1/8ET 8.40 8.75
1/8MPH 89.57 86.25
1/4ET 12.76 13.18
1/4MPH 112.16 111.00
WINNER 0.56

Needless to say, I'm pretty damn happy. I've trapped 114 at the track before, and I know I can get deeper into the 12s. I'm still running my original turbos with 92k miles (at 13psi on this particular pass) and a high flow cat.

Thought I'd share with you guys .

So the iroc had cams??? Must have been using a honda DOHC motor.. LOL (j/k had to get you on that one, but it's excusable)

Yeah nice times for being on street tires, with coil overs set on stiff...

Rich, your still on your original set of turbos at 92,000 miles damn!! Who said stock twins dont last longer then 60-80k miles. Thats what happens when someone who knows how to take care of an FD owns it. Good job with the 1/4 mile time.

My s02s were not suited to the strip at all, and had a 160 treadwear. The s03s have a 220 treadwear, so I'm suprised my 60ft was as good as 2.1.

Thing is, when I hook up better, I'm going to break my ppf and/or diff. I've already cracked my original ppf is 3 places at the strip. I don't feel like shelling out big bucks for a Mspeed ppf/kaaz lsd/slicks, so for now I'm going to have my sites set on stage 2 BNRs .

Always changed my oil every 1500 miles, and I've been running Mobil1 synthetic for over a year now.

Anyone who knows me can attest that I'm on boost an awful lot, so you know my turbos have gotten a work out. Oh, and thanks for the compliment .

Good job getting into the 12s.
Have you compared runs W/ IC fans on & IC fans off?
I am still seeking proof IC fans help before I install them on my IC.
Thanks
Rick

~340 RWHP (give or take at 13 PSI, based on your 368 RWHP at 15 PSI), and only 111-112 trap speeds? Wow.

read my whole post you moron

I'm giving his car a compliment saying that I think it is faster than the time the he really got and if he practices 60 foot it will be low 12s on street tires.

I have gone to the track one time for a total of 5 runs when I had 1,500 miles of driving my rx7 total. I got a 13.5 @ 105.36 with a **** 2.204 60 time. that was with intake, dp, cb, and stock cat, also have a streetport, pettit ecu and was running stock boost. I know my times are **** and if I get my 60 foot to 2 flat or lower I will be happy. I like to make the car I drive look good.

There should be an option when you initially start a thread to prevent certain people from posting in your thread. I think I'm going to post this in the 'suggestions' section....

Are you always such a wiener??

maybe maps are different than when he made 368, maybe intake temps different......there are 5,586,443 different variables going into how much power you make at a given time. Just because you make 368 one day at 15 psi doesn’t mean you're making it all the time and usually doesn’t mean that you run that state of tune all the time on the street.

How ‘bout you just keep to the lounge?? It seems like your behavior and respective level of intelligence and maturity towards almost any thread or situation I have seen you address on this forum is more suited for that environment.

Before you jump on the intelligence statement, when you go around writing like an *** and also talking out of it at the same time that doesn't do much for how you come off. Maybe if something doesnt make sense to you, you should inquire about the problem or offer advice/help instead of trying to put down a good accomplishment.

In either case of WHY the run was at 112 mph, it's still a damn good time for that trap speed and the reaction time is incredible.

Nice job Rich...i'll still pull you once i get her broken in and tuned though...

You can add him to your ignore list, and his post won't show up (to you anyway). hehe

I've also seen other forums where certain members who are troublemakers and spammers and trolls get added to a SPAM user list and you can make your thread a "SPAM BE GONE" thread and they aren't allowed to post in it. It's a selective way of banning certain users, post to post.

Forums are F-U-N!
