it's only needed when going into first, all other gears will engage easily without it using heal and toe downshifts. I learned on an 1974 MG without first gear syncros, so I got a lot of practice. Maybe someday I'll tell you about the Chevette I drove 100,000 miles and only used the clutch from a standing start.

cars were very different 25 years ago, besides, it was a Chevette, not a Corvette.
A truck Driver taught me how.

You missed the point. Downshifting rev-matching is ubiquitous. But it's sometimes not enough. That's when you double-clutch.

i always match rev when down shifting.. just used to it

he means by only using the clutch in first to take off then to shift he just releases the gas and waits for the rev to be in the right spot and just put it in gear without the clutch or grinding. correct me if im wrong

that's right, when everything being driven by the engine matches everything being driven from the drive shaft, it drops into gear. downshifting is a little tricky, but doable. By the way, I always use the clutch in the FD, I don't recommend this practice (it was only a Chevette, after all)

true i did it on my ae86, pretty easy but like u said shifting down was tricky
