Question FD models??

I want to know what in meant by Touring, R1, and R2. I know that thier different models of the RX7. But what I need to know is how they differ? I know some things like Touring has leather soft suspemsion, R1 sway bar stiffer suspesion. What are the other differences? Tried the search but to many hits.
Thanks in advance.

Heres the little I know.

Base: Pretty much the plain jane. No sunroof or leather(could be wrong or leaving something out).

Touring: Leather, sunroof, bose acoustic wave(which I hear is a p.o.s. and just take it out, but dont know for sure).

R1: Not really sure a cross between the R2 and the touring

R2: "Large front air dam and ""floating"" rear wing. Shock absorborers are tuned more firmly, and there is a shock tower brace across the engine bay. Also adds a second engine oil cooler, dedicated air ducts to help cool the front brakes." All that came from the 1995 mazda RX7 brochure. So that is my source on the R2. I know the R1 and R2 didnt come with leather.it had kinda of a special seat material..like seude... it was supposed to keep you from sliding in the seat when you were slinging it into the corners. I have heard that the R2 didnt have a rear wiper or cruise control. They also didnt have sunroofs. Well anything i messed up or left out or forgot...have at it and let me know.
p.s. I looked for R1 in the mazda thing I have and didnt find anything...did they not have R1 in 95? i have heard they did not have R1 or R2 in 95..but according to the brochure i have they obviously had a R2 because it list it as a package. They also stated that the R1 R2 options were there to choose from but wernt called "R1" or "R2". Oh well

The R1 was only made in 93. The R2 was made in 94 and 95. They are the same except that the R1 has a stiffer suspension. All RX-7's have a very stiff suspension though.
The Bose stereo in the touring sounds great for a stock system. It's one of the best I've heard. It just can't compete with a lot of high powered aftermarket systems. It's all I need though. I put a big aftermarket system in my last car but I haven't felt the need to switch this one. Maybe I'm getting old. I guess I'd just rather spend the money on go fast parts.
