I don't think that's a very good analogy since a lot of people spend money on front bumpers for airflow(oil coolers/fmic/radiator)...The smaller stock air ducts may not be enough for their needs. Possibly comparing seats or stereo system maybe?...either way...

Even though $40+ for a cup holder seems a bit much...it IS quite nice. It sure as hell is not a walmart brand drink holder.

when im eating or drinking in the car I hold the food with my right hand and shift gears and steer with my left hand. Turns are kinda hard you have to anticipate the downshifts because you can't switch gears and turn at the same time with one hand and especially the left one!
I did recently get a shitty cup holder that I can put around my parking brake whenever I want. I put it in the glove box whenever I'm not using it. I think that's the best idea because it does look cheap I'd never leave it there.

For all of you who thing 40 bucks is too much to spend....shut up...finish school and get a real job. those of us who like the finer things in life can actually afford our cars and don't need to "save" 40 bucks for a power fc, if we wanted one...we'd go buy it.

Didn't know people get so bitchy over a damn cupholder. I think is pretty good for the price and you probably get what you pay for. I think it would be a good safety feature as well, since driving while holding **** isn't all that great(less focus on the road etc.) All IMO, so don't shoot me. thanks!

FDs with nice kits look alot better than stock ones.
Well, if you are that desparate for attention and approval, I think you have other issues. I don't have to feel that my car stands up amongst others. And I have yet to see a single aftermarket body piece that made the FD look better. Just because it makes the car look more aggressive doesn't mean it's better looking. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

You are right about upgrading to provide more airflow. It would be a poor analogy IF I believed that most people get aftermarket front ends to increase airflow. I would put money down that at least 50% of people who get aftermarket front ends do so just for appearance.

hey i goto school and work to , i have over $12,000 in savings so far, and i bought a car for my mom and one for me , and looking for a FD 2. If i spend little money like $40 on a stupid cup holder i wouldnt have a penny at the end.

This didn't need to turn into a discussion about wether or not the price is worth it....I wanted to know if anyone wanted to go in with me and get a better price. If anyone is interested...pm me.

like he said...finish school and make sure to be arrogant, (get your status quo on!) stay that way for a few years, and then losing 40 IQ points isn't that much of an issue...

For the love of what’s holy, he's got a 40-dollar point JUSTgotMINE...just a trivial issue to you, but you’re the genius who's willing to spend that on a cup holder

How bout' this, I'll buy the same one your interested and sell it back to you at a discounted price, a smidge under 40 bucks, your happy in your naive stance as a wanna be yuppie (of course this is only an assumption, it could be worse, he could be older), and I'll be happy being a smidge more wealthier

It's not the money you make that qualifies you to buy the finer things in life like that unsightly cup holder (buy the way, I have a cup holder from BMW, it cost me a mere 20 bucks and is a slight more of a "finer" delicacy) the damn thing is 40 dollars...hardly good taste...

I say my piece as a humble contender for the common man (and Intelligent Quotients over 90)

just go to the junk yard, find a 92 Taurus, rip the cup holder/coin tray out, and stick it under the radio. looks better, more functional, and you dont have to put it in the glove box when you are done with it.

2 bucks out of pocket, savings of 38, and looks like a million.

now you dont look like a sissy for buying one cuz it comes with a stupid little bracket.

I must say that it is nice to have a place to put things (like my cell phone) where I can get to it, see it and it doesn't slide around under acceleration.
Besides the fiancee likes the idea of the cupholder... and she is small enough to fit in the seat with it open.
And yes, I have the padded ashtray as well...So sue me
But my Power Fc is being shipped as we speak
