Jim,
I'm just giving you a hard time. I would never expect him to do as well in that event as his "all time best" run. I'm still a little surprised he didn't do better than he did though (111 mph!). May have been really hot and he didn't have time to ice down or something.

I saw a option vid a few weeks ago of a 100% BONE STOCK Model Year 2001 RS FD3S run a 12.9... dont remember the speed though. If anyone cares.
Crazy thing is last time I took apart a 2000 RS, the down pipe is actully smaller(about 1 cm) than the 93's. Everybody thinks its the intake all the small improvements but it is all the turbos. It is actully more resticted than the 93's.

I thought that the main difference would be that the '93 ran a precat, while they removed that on the newer models. Pipe diameter may be less, but overall the newer models are less restrictive (because there is no precat).

A friend of mine ran 11.4 at 11psi in San Antonio. He now has a T78, but then, he had stock twins. He made the run with a street port, an apex FMIC, a Power FC, full exhaust, and a Bonez Street/Strip. The car was tuned by Rotary Performance/RX7.com.

Why dont you like Nitto's??? You have to burn them out alot more but I thought they were ok. I turn 1.8x's with Nittos and they last 5x longer than BFG's. They also look better on the car if your driving around on the weekend with them. They both have thier pro's and con's but with a good burn out the Nittos are decent.
BTW - A good burn out to me is when you can see smoke at your window. A lot of people just dont burn them long enough

NYC's Loudest FD
Quickest and fastest twin turboed car I've seen is my friend AnthonyNYC, his car went 11.2's-11.1's@121mph's, pretty consistantly on stock twins, with slicks, pretty simple and effective setup with no blowup problems and was daily driven, BTW this was done with a Pettit Unlimited chip and some other mods.

Yeah this guy, JR, ran at the World import Challenge in Baytown, TX about 3 months ago. I think he ran an 11.4 or 11.5 on stock twins. I don't know what boost he was pushing. Some other guy from San Antonio ran an 11.7 on street tires...and he drove his car from San Antonio (single turbo, though).
Then there was me... Eliminated in the 1st round! I only had my car 30 days. I ran a 12.75 on street tires, stock twins, rebuilt motor, PFC, MP, CB, stock cat, stock inj./fuel pump and PFS IC. I did it for the experience.
JR was fast as hell! Although he did get inched out at the end of his run in the Semi's by one fast *** Supra. Supra got beat by RX7.com in the final.

As for the rest of it... no precat stuff is nonsence who ever told you that. Some early model FD's have no precat over here and they are just as slow as yours in the states.

Aren't there a bunch of 1000' (or something else slightly shorter) dragstrips in Japan? Maybe there is no truth to this but I seem to remember someone mentioning that before. That might explain a 12.9 stock.

Everybody has their own way but what I do is rev to about 7k and just let her rip. I try to get enough of a momentum so I can shift into 2nd and maintain the burnout. I've tried the braking method but I can't seem to get it right.
