the stock fans are pretty good. If you still have the stock ecu I would do the thermoswitch mod first. If you have a PFC you can get a datalogit and adjust your fans to come on at any temp you want.

As mentioned, I think the OEM fans work well. You can buy replacement fans, each with an extra blade. But they might be pricey, and I haven't ever seen an objective evaluation of whether they're worth it. IMO, "Fan Mod" and FC/Miata thermoswitch are.

I have heard some autocrossers talking about running a 16" Hayden puller fan behind the Rad and a 14" pusher fan in front of the Rad. The only thing is you have to remove A/C which in my opinion is one of the best mods for this car.
I'll be doing this next weekend because just the fan motors from MAZDA is about $400.
Hayden fans will cost about $65 each.
