ExMag GT2 exhaust for the RX-7

The ExMag GT2 is an 80mm straight through design. The muffler is 304 polished stainless steel, and the piping is made from 409 half stainless coated steel.
Noise level. The exhaust with the silencer is pretty darn quiet. With the silencers out, well, its up to you to think its loud. I thought it was on the louder side, but damn, it sounded GOOD!

This is kind of off topic but it has been bothering me for a while.
Why do all the new style aftermarket mufflers exit at an angle? Is this a fad? At first I thought the FD just had a very tight fit for the muffler (I can't say I know since I still have the stock exhaust), but I have seen many different cars with aftermarket mufflers this way. IMHO it looks cheap, like the manufacturer built it wrong or the fitment is bad.
Does anybody know what's up?

i *think* it's to reduce the number of bends in the pipe resulting is higher flow...
Course I'm sure I'm way off.
I remember when I first saw a Supra with the exhaust crooked I was like... WTF??

Part of the reason for the angled cans is to gain more ground clearance so you don't hit the exhaust - I've seen cases where that was definitely true.
But, a lot of it is just for show - "less bends" is IMHO BS.
There are a lot of angled exhausts that look great, and some that look terrible.
