+1 for tanabe touring medallion.
It sounds almost as stock. IM pretty sure it wont have massive HP gains like a greddy TI or any of those exhausts but its very subtle and the sound is tolerable.

Make sure to tune your FD when modifying the exhaust, because the turbos just love to boost when given little restrictions.
I did a 4 inch straight through exhaust once and my stock FD was boosting over 17 psi, with luck it did not blow the apex seals. Had to chock it down on the tail pipe section to get the boost within safe 10-11 lbs levels.

I'd like to thank everyone who gave insights on exhausts within this thread.
And I'd also like to congratulate on a **** poor job to those with a skeptical view of the concept that I'm no older than a pubescent child who just got his first car. I'm in the US Navy serving as a Corpsman for the US Marines so I'm sure I don't have to go on about what age really means.
Furthermore, whoever posted after me saying they wanted a LOUD exhaust was by no means any of which I wanted. As many have said, and in which I agreed, the mellow tone was more of which I was looking into. I am currently looking into the Racing Beat Dual exhaust and am pretty interested into it.
To answer your question Gracer7-rx7, my goals into my car is performance over cosmetics. I'm not sure if I could be any clearer as this is my second time repeating myself. However, in the same sense of having a great performance level, I'm not planning on driving a car that would more than likely be in the same comparison level in sound as my lawn mower. I don't want a coffee can exhaust, I don't want any "GT-wing" on my rex, I haven't touched any of the body, nor have I even thought about getting that part of the car done for a really long time; so do me a favor and take that skepticism of me being a "yet again, another ricer" out the window.

Take a look at the exhaust thread, there are tons of different choices. I personally have a hks carbon ti because I liked how it looked. Yes there you have it, I like the fact that the canister was wrapped in CF. It isnt quite as loud as the apexi gt spec one but it has a deep tone on WOT.

Trust me, I've had instances on base where "know-it-all" marines would come up to me and ask what kind of body kit I was using on my stock rx-7. I am not kidding. I can completely understand that any veteran on this website would think that I would fit into the category of a noob as I've only posted one thread, and asked a question regarding one of the components most ricers choose first.
And just an FYI, I've been looking deeply into the RB, and from what I know of it so far, the exhaust is very convincing.

LOL, dont kill me with conversation with a chick. Inside the car its loud but bearable. I think mine is perfect, i've sat in my buddies car he has a single turbo with the dp vented and a apexi gt spec exhaust and its insanely loud. If your concerned about loudness, stick with the racing beat duals. Its all on personal choice. I dont like the rb duals because you can't hear ****. ( i mean you cant even hear the exhaust) lol
In my opinion, driving a Rex should have at least a dominant growl, but not an insanely annoying roar.

Oh, while I'm at it, could you buy a HKS carbon fiber so you could lend it to me for a few months? I'd like to try it out and then give it back to you when you get annoyed by my Greddy Ti. Or unless you planned on giving the Tanabe a circle jerk xD

I paid around 1400$ CAD including shipping and customs. It's a bit loud... but that depends on what you like and what you want... personally I'm pretty satisfied of my choice!

I got a resonated mp and re amemiya dolphin tail (stainless) It has a nice deep tone and zero rasp. It almost sounds stock from the inside, but when I have the windows down you can hear the clean exhaust note the car produces. I wanna get a friend a to record it under a load so i can hear it from the outside. The dolphin tail is pretty big and has more dampening material in it than I thought. I'm also gonna experiment with a straight mp to the muffler and see what that sounds like as well.
*just ignore my friends funny commentary* lot's of ppl have commented on him and i still crack on him today for say, 'Small revs!" rofl. Airpump moo scared me the first time I heard it, it's loud with that greddy intake. Can't wait to have it removed =)

I've got an Apexi GT Spec. The 3.75in one. Would a presilencer reduce the noise to legal limits? I've been thinking about the active silencer. I've also been thinking about wrapping the exhaust with heat wrap and then wrap the heat wrap with some sound deadening material. Just a thought though, don't know if it will work.

Will it be enough to drive the car legally though? (what about the active silencer? That's the one that acts like a silencer when the exhaust volume is low, but when it gets higher, it senses it and it goes wide open so that you get power as if it were a straight through without the silencer)

Just about everyone on this site wants to increase "performance". Setting up some long term goals would be the mature thing to do (since you think you are already mature ). Are you looking for just a better catback, and don't plan to do anything else? Do you want 300 rwph eventually? 400? 500? More? Are you going to remove the main cat? Will you add a downpipe? DO YOU HAVE ANY PLAN AT ALL?????? Or, are you going to start a new thread every time you do anything to your car

Well I have the RB duals… With a DP and resonated MP and in no way does it sound like a sedan. It’s a deep grumble, no droning at highway, but screams at WOT throttle exhaust. And you can actually have a conversation with your passenger while driving. What will they think of next? lol
People claim that you lose some HP with this exhaust I have yet to see such evidence. Other than people’s misconception that loud = power while completely disregarding canister design. The RB has a 3 inch pipe so how restrictive is that? How much do most of us need? Down side IMO is the weight. Others might say that it looks like stock and some may not like it, but I live in cali and I hate the big *** muffler look so for me that’s a great thing
I’ve had an exhaust (a magnaflow in the mean time exhaust) that droned a little bit and I hated it. I’ve been in other peoples FD’s where the constant highway drone just drove me nuts, nevermind the ringing in the ears that comes as a bonus. My current setup (still in the works) is a single turbo with the wastegate vented to the atmosphere. I’ve seen dyno plots where a vented wastegate can get you as much as an additional 20 HP. Yet I’m still unsure about the wastegate thing since my exhaust note will change at WOT. That’s how much I like the sound of the RB duals.

But how in a thread asking questions regarding different exhaust types have anything to do with age, goals, and last importantly maturity? And speaking of maturity? Not once was there a single word of maturity before your post; but that's a different topic. For now, lets STICK to the same argument. Asking questions having to do with age, maturity and goals in a thread about exhausts was just as relevant as to asking how you planned on setting your casts when picking out fishing bait. I don't know what your job is, but I'm sure you have no clue what I do for a living. So before you start prodding into other people's lives and objectives, why don't you let them worry about their own goals, you worry about your own, and let the thread worry about what the topic's about.

Alot of people like the RB because as montego said it looks stock and alot of guys on here are purist. As I said before its just an exhaust. If your concerned about sound get the RB, if not get something else.

From 1995 until last month I had an old PFS CB on my FD. It sounded pretty good from the outside, but droned and drove me crazy on long trips. I replaced it with a used RB dual-tip.
IMO, the tone outside the car is improved. The exhaust pulses are more distinct and separated, and the car now sounds like a sports car should: sophisticated, no rasping, and loud enough to know you have some HP (it's actually a bit louder than the PFS was), but not so loud that it will tick off the neigbors or attract the police. So far I have not noticed any signs of droning.
In addition, my "butt-dyno" says the car has more HP now than it did with the PFS.

i had one custom made. on my old supra, evo and the rx the best value for money is a straight through SS exhaust - no cat and no back box - just a 3" or 4" straight off the turbo to a polished tip. looks good and sounds amazing! also allows maximum spool of the turbos/ turbos

So, have you done that yet? Once you have set your goals, and told us what they are, we can better advise you. If you are looking for something less than 350 rwhp, the RB catback may be a good choice. It may be too restrictive for a higher hp car. We wouldn't want to advise you to buy one exhaust, when you would only have to replace it later because it didn't fit your end goals.
