ETS intercooler opinion

So I'm planning on going single and changing the intercooler as well. Currently I have the Greddy SMIC. I have looked at options of Vmount or FMIC and I really don't like how most FMIC kits require you to relocate the radiator since in some cases in can heat soak the radiator due to most heat exchange occurring at the intercooler prior to reaching the rad. So that swayed me towards a V mount until I found the ETS FMIC which doesn't require the relocation of anything really. And I seem to keep finding good write-ups on it in other places but here. I searched and there is currently not too much talk of this kit on the forums. So I want to ask fellow FD owners what you think of this kit?! Do you think it is worth the money? And do you think that their claims of such dramatic temp drops is totally true? Here is a link: http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/M...duct_info.html

I don't have any experience with their FMIC kit, but I will say that the guys at ETS are top notch. I had them make a custom IC to my specs and I was very impressed with the end result. The quality of the core is excellent with fin density about equal to my old spearco core, and the welds on the custom endtanks were perfect. Customer service was excellent and they had the IC at my door a week after I sent them the drawings.

After looking at pics of their FMIC kit I would be concerned with the pipes that run through the frame at the front. I'm not sure how much cutting or bending is required, and I'd be worried about the metal to metal contact wearing a hole in the IC pipe over time.

I also took a look at their "VMIC" kit, which is really not a true V-mount because the radiator is still in the stock position. You would have to modify the radiator setup yourself.

I would be concerned about the "removal of front bumper support" aspect.

IMO, if you are going for a FMIC, the radiator position doesn't matter. The issue with the radiator is not getting fresh air with a FMIC installed. That's not caused or solved by the radiator being upright or slanted.

As for as the ETS kit, the end tanks look a little odd but the IC piping seems rather efficient. IMO, if you want a FMIC, the Blitz is a better setup. It doesn't block the entire front opening which allows some unducted fresh air to the radiator. Blocking the entire front like this appears to do is just going to rob your radiator of clean air (unless you do some custom ducting).
