I'm fairly certain my ECU has a reman sticker on it as well. I think this is the result of the dealer swapping the ECU during the recall to fix the engine-dying-at-idle with A/C on, and/or the fan control recall, as both have been done to my car. Early production '93 touring.
My car was owned (poorly) by only one guy before me, and I have all the service records, so I know the ecu is "factory". So your ECU is likely okee-dokee.

Spurvo: Thank you for that information. All these little issues are giving me an ulcer. I could see the recall sticker on the hood, but had no idea what it was for.
Any idea how to identify brake fluid damage fromfire damage? I get pictures soon.

Its alive!!! 12 grand later and she lives. Only problem was a high idle ~2000 rpm. found I had not tightened the intercooler intake clamp all the way. Now idles around 900 RPM. If I adjust it any lower, she stalls.
Lots of acrid smoke coming off new turbos. quit after a few minutes. No coolant leaks.
Work done:
Atkins large port, 3mm apex, new rear rotor and housing
valvoline 10w40 for now.
Fully rebuilt transmission. Liberty's Gears. Taylor Mi.
Redline mt-90
Full silicone hose job. PIMA
Has all emission crap incl air pump which i use to blow air over the turbo's during shut down.
Down pipe, Mp, stock muffler. wrapped with 1/2" creamic blanket. NASA stuff.
RC engineering injectors. stock size
Supra pump
PWR radiator
RB Front sway bar brack
new stronger sway bar mounts
RB lightened flywheel
tri pillar gauge pod, boost, EGT, H2O autometer mech.
last but not least,
apexi turbo timer
greddy air intake
BNR Stage 2 turbos. Sequential. Ported wastegate
