I don't believe the JDM twins are any stronger. Just newer.

the 99+ twins are better, more effecient - abradible seals or something. not sure if they can hold more boost, but i do know people have hit 400whp on the stock twins.

However, it takes quite a lot of work - and personally i wouldnt do it.

How much power does your car have? 300hp is perfectly and safely attainable with teh stock turbos and you will probably find is more than fast enough for you. If not, you can use a boost controller to switch between boost pressures - run 300hp for the street and 400 for when you want to embarass that Z06 driver infront of his trophy wife :P

well if you are thinking about buying those turbos and havent yet, think about looking into the BNR stage 3's. they can handle more power and more boost more effeciently. They are also a little less in price. (if your thinking about getting a new set) There are alot of things that make them better then the 99 spec. Just look here.

isn't BHP= flywheel HP?

If that's the case then it's about 340 RWHP. There's no question that they won't handle that.

"Efini Twins" is a misnomer first off. Best to call them 280hp twins. They were available on '99 up RX-7's on certain models.

That said, they are more efficient, most notably they spool up faster than the stock twins and have better response. The scuttlebutt is that they don't hold up to very high boost (past 14psi) as well as the regular twins.

Go with the Efini twins if 300ish horsepower and good response is what you're looking for. If you want big power, the BNR twins or a single is the way to go. Getting over 380hp to the ground on the stock twins is INCREDIBLY difficult and you usually break the turbos in short order.

i have them....They do spool faster than stock twins. and I have ran them around 14.5psi. i dont see any problems with them. Havnt tried to take them past that for fear of loosing my engine and usually run them around 11 psi. I would *guess* im somewhere around 330-350 at high boost.

that is funny...that was what happen Saturday...followed a C6 Z06 15 miles out onto the freeway, he took a few jabs here & there but never held in. The passenger was his teenager son. He didn't want to play because:

1. Didn't want send wrong message to his son (ok w/me)
2. Didn't want to get embarass in front of his son
3. $70K supercar might get beat (which was very unlikely, hardly have 300 whp in the 7).

yes, just click on goodfellas and go through the posts he made.

U'll need to run parallel twins and ported motor + a lot of other mods, ignition, fuel, ECU, good tuning..etc...

From what I have read...I wouldn't go with Efini twins. Saving money for a BNR S3...

^^ If you don't want to worry about your car blowing up stay with stock twins (BNR are good too) and don't go above 14 psi. It's all about CFM, heat, and not runing lean.

With a streetported motor, CAI, DP, MP, CB, FMIC, 9.5 LB FLYWHEEL, CLUTCH, PFC, AND supporting fuel mods (FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS, FUEL RAIL). your car should be in the 330 -350 RWHD all depending on how good your engine is (compression).

add them up

Just search man. There's a lot of info stored on this forum. There really is no set lifespan on a motor at x amount of reasonable power. It depends what mods you go with, what name brands, etc. You will most likely need bigger injectors, and a ported motor.

lol i raced a older c5 z06. he had long tube headers intake full exhaust and cams. hung with him till about 100mph....after that he was gone. c6 z06 is faster than that.....i would not even **** with a stock one.....i have about 330-350rwhp.
