That's correct. Bryan told me that the carbon seals in the stage 3s you can't run synthetic due to oil blowby into the exhaust.

That's really the long and short of it, and if i've learned anything from my long(and sometimes very painfull) learning curve of owning my FD, it's don't make power with more boost, make it with efficiency......whatever turbos you decide to get.
Dude, run 12 lbs, make your 270 some odd rwhp, and be happy. It's pretty damn quick. Don't obsess over numbers. Then get an intercooler when you have the cash, and get your 300rwhp. You'll never be the quickest car on the road...don't try to be.
Trust me. Your car will love you, and as a result it will be less likely to bend you over and play hide the light saber.
fyi.....i'm running the 99' turbos, and i'm digging them. But, i'm all done with blowing my **** up, so i'm just making what the car really likes to make and calling it a day. I'll push it a little more when I go single

Not with the newer stage 3s that he sells now, no. they have carbon seals which don't like the synth. Evidently it gets past them and starts to smoke out the exhaust.

my rx-7 is around 300 to the wheels with just releasing more air in the car, intake/exhaust/down pipe and good tuning

i want to make about 375-400 rwhp on a street car
not to say the car would be an everyday driver, but a good 2 or 3 times a week and a track day per month...

are the BNRs reliable enough for me to do that?

Another potential advantage I see with the BNR stage 3's is that they are rebuildable, assuming the cracks in the cast iron parts aren't too bad. Stock twins are generally thought of as being non-rebuildable, and you cannot find brand new CHRA's for the Hitachi HT-12's anymore. However, since the BNR stage 3's are modified to use dual T-28's, they should theortically be pretty easy to rebuild. I'm not talking about rebuiliding with a rebuild kit, but I'm talking about replacing them with brand new CHRA's since new T-28 CHRA's are very available. I haven't confirmed this with Bryan from BNR yet, but when it comes time for the BNR's to be rebuilt, I really don't see any reason why you couldn't just take the CHRA from your BNR Stage 3's to a turbo store like Turbo City, and have them sell you an identical CHRA.
My BNR's have 0 miles on them right now so I guess I'll worry about that when the time comes, but if anybody has anymore information about the ability to rebuild BNR Stage 3's, please let me know.
