They are marginally different, but they are effectively the same. The greatest advantage to the Efini twins is that they are still in production. You can buy a brand new set of Efini twins from Mazda. Your only option with the older style turbos is to buy used.

The older twins were used in late autos and base models and are still available - the more likely reason the plastic lined twins are more likely to be found is they are cheaper than the original type and perceived cache.

The efini twins have awesome response since they spool up very quickly, but they are very limited in the amount of HP they produce

get BNR stage 3s, they are the same price and you can boost more with no problem
