Ebay parts warning - inexpensive hatch shocks

Hey guys -

Bought a set of new hatch shocks off Ebay not too long ago. I've seen them listed a few times, they're like $44 for the pair Buy It Now.

In all, they're not bad, but the downside is the way the bottom mounts to the car. It comes with some nylon bushings and an e-clip to go around a shaft that goes through the 2-bolt mount. First, the mount is slotted and universal, so getting a good fit is tricky. Second, the shock needs to be able to pivot a bit there, and it can't with the nylon spacers and e-clip. A few times of opening and closing will bend and pop the e-clip out, then the shock pops out and down the hatch goes.

It's ALMOST a good product, but the mounting to the car lets the whole thing down.

Just wanted to FYI you guys in case you were thinking about them.

I bought these a several years ago too. They are not bad quality but I had to Dremel the resin cover on the ***** ***** to get them to fit and have a little play. They have been fine since then.

The Tein ones looks suspiciously similar (at three times the price):

And also there is mention of removing resin covers....

{Edit - just noticed you mentioned hatch shocks - so ignore everything!}

Yeah, this is for *hatch* struts, not hood struts . The part at the back of the car .
