Easiest way to replace Turbo Control Solenoid?
The part just came in and want to know who's got some experience replacing this little sucker and which components, besides the UIM, need to be removed for an easier job. Thanks.

You can get away with not completely removing the UIM, but you need a helper to hold the UIM up while you swap out the old solenoid. If you're doing this by yourself, it's best to go ahead and remove the UIM. The turbo control solenoid goes just in front of the air control valve. Have extra 10-mm bolts in case you drop one in the rat's nest! Good luck!

SleepR1: Thanks for the 4-1-1. I'll get my boy to help me. Hopefully this will solve my secondary turbo low boost problem.
Alpha-7: List was 70.45, but local Mazda dealer gave me a 10% cut, so I paid 63.40. Part number is N3A1-18-741. Good Luck!!

SleepR1: Great advise. I'll replace the Solenoid in the next 2 days. If that doesn't cure my low boost disease, I'll go down the list as you recommended!!. Thanks once again.

Well guys I couldn't wait!! I just installed the Turbo Control Solenoid and took the car for a test drive. First I drove around for about 20 minutes to make sure the engine temp was up to par. Then I picked my favorite strip of pavement to open her up. I couldn't believe the additional acceleration at and after 4500 rpm. Although the car boost pattern is 10-7-10, the car now has tremendous speed improvement after 4500 rpm. Wish I could pinpoint the problem with the "7" psi boost, but for now, I'm still pretty satified with the improvement. One last thing... when the transition occurs at 4500, it starts climbing from "7" up to 10 pretty fast. FYI.. my 93 is an automatic.

M.F.Luder: I don't know if it was the easiest method of replacing the TCS, but I took off the UIM/Throttlebody/Throttle body intake while the components were still connected together. And although I disconnected a mutitude of hoses and the Transmission Dip Stick bracket (my FD is an Auto) located in the back of the UIM, I was still unable to lift the components completely off the engine. Something was preventing it from coming off totally (maybe the fuel line?)I was just able to lift it off the bottom maniflod just enough to get to the TCS. Total install time was under 2 hours. !!. Sorry, I didn't take any video or photos of the installation. If you have any Q's just let me know. Good Luck.
